자동차와 음식의 도시 모데나

[아츠앤컬쳐] 모데나는 에밀리아 로마냐 지방의 중심부에 위치하고 포 평원으로 길게 뻗어있으며, 이탈리아 남부와 북부, 이탈리아와 그 외 유럽 사이의 이상적인 교차점이다. 볼로냐에서 40km, 피렌체에서 130km, 밀라노에서 170km, 베네치아에서 200km 거리에 있다.

이탈리아의 고급 스포츠카 제조업체인 페라리, 데 토마소, 람보르기니, 마세라티, 그리고 새로운 부가티 공장들이 람보르기니(공장이 20km 외곽에 있음)를 제외하고 모두 모데나에 있으며, 본사도 이곳과 인근에 있어 자동차 산업으로 유명하다. 페라리의 차 중에 ‘360 모데나’는 마을의 이름을 딴 것이다. 모데나는 귀중한 건축물과 뛰어난 요리를 자랑하는 활기차고 즐거운 도시다. 이곳은 또한 파바로티의 출생지이기도 하다.

모데나대학교는 1175년에 설립되고 1686년에 프란체스코 2세 데스테가 확장하고, 경제학, 의학, 법학이 유명하며 이탈리아에서 두 번째로 오래된 학당이다. 우리는 모데나의 창립부터 중세, 현대 역사와 대성당 등과 같은 예술적 기념물에 대해서 몇 시간이고 이야기할 수 있다. 오늘날 팔라초 코무날레(시청)의 자리는 12세기 시공화정이 탄생한 이래 계속 공공기관이 자리해왔다. 이러한 역사적 연속성 덕분에 대성당뿐만 아니라 광장 전체가 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 지정되었다.

모데나의 역사, 문화, 예술도 매우 중요하지만 이번에는 모데나를 더욱 유명하게 만든 다른 세 가지로 자동차 제조업체와 세계에서 가장 유명한 셰프와 레스토랑, 발사믹 식초를 소개한다. 이번 호는 첫 번째로 자동차 제조업체다.

1963년 설립된 자동차회사 람보르기니는 모데나에서 20km 거리의 산타가타 볼로녜제에 있는 이탈리아의 고급 스포츠카 및 SUV 제조업체다. 오늘날 이 회사는 자회사 아우디를 통해 폴크스바겐 그룹이 소유하고 있으나 창작, 디자인, 생산을 모두 이탈리아가 맡는다.

제조업계의 거물인 이탈리아의 페루치오 람보르기니는 1963년 기존 브랜드 페라리와 경쟁하기 위해 세련된 그랜드 투어링 자동차 생산을 목표로 회사를 설립했다. 람보르기니 회사는 모데나와 부가티 자동차 근처에 있는 두카티 모터홀딩스도 거느리고 있다.

하지만 가장 유명한 브랜드는 페라리이다. 페라리 회사는 모데나에 근접한 마라넬로에 본사를 둔 고급 스포츠카 제조업체다. 1939년 엔조 페라리가 알파 로메오 경주 부문 중 하나인 아우토 아비오 코스트루지오니를 설립하여 1940년에 첫 자동차를 만들고 1947년에 페라리 배지를 단 자동차를 첫 생산했다. 페라리는 설립 이후 줄곧 모터스포츠에 참여했으며, 스쿠데리아 페라리 스포츠 부문을 통해 포뮬러 원과 스포츠카 경주를 비롯해 다른 팀에 자동차와 엔진을 공급하고 원메이크 레이스를 벌이기도 했다.

Modena town of car and food

Today we are talking about a special city: Modena. Modena is located in the heart of the Emilia Romagna Region and extends longitudinally into the Po Plain, and the it is an ideal communications node between Southern and Northern Italy and between Italy and the rest of Europe. It is 40 Km from Bologna, 130 from Florence, 170 from Milan and 200 from Venice.

This town is known for its car industry since the factories of the famous Italian upper-class sports car makers Ferrari, De Tomaso, Lamborghini, Maserati and now the new Bugatti are, or were, located here and all, except Lamborghini (the factory is 20 km away), have headquarters in the city or nearby. One of Ferrari's cars, the 360 Modena , was named after the town itself. Modena is a vibrant place with architectural gems and culinary highlights: Modena is a city that pleases. It is also the birthplace of Pavarotti.

The University of Modena , founded in 1175 and expanded by Francesco II d’Este in 1686, focuses on economics , medicine and law, and is the second oldest athenaeum in Italy. We can talk for hours about the history of Modena, from its foundation to the Middle Ages, to modern Modena. We could also talk about its artistic monuments, such as the cathedral or the place where the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) stands nowadays is the same where, since the birth of the City-Republic in the XII century, the public authorities have had their seat. Thanks to this historical continuity, the whole square, and not only the Cathedral, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage.

The history, culture and art in Modena are very important. But today we will introduce three things that have made Modena very famous: The story of car manufacturers, one of the most famous chefs and restaurants in the world, and balsamic vinegar.

Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. founded in 1963, is an Italian brand and manufacturer of luxury sports cars and SUV based in Sant’agata Bolognese , 20 km from Modena. Today The company is owned by the Volkswagan Group through its subsidiary Audi. But the creation, design and production are all Italian. Manufacturing magnate Italian Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company in 1963 with the objective of producing a refined grand Touring car to compete with offerings from established marques such as Ferrari. Today Automobili Lamborghini S.P.A. control also: Ducati Motor Holding S.P.A, a manufacturer of motorcycles, located also near Modena and Bugatti Car.

But the most famous brand is Ferrari. Ferrari S.P.A. is an luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, very near to Modena. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 out of the Alfa Romeo race division as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car in 1940, and produced its first Ferrari-badged car in 1947. Since the company's beginnings, Ferrari has been involved in motorsport, competing in a range of categories including Formula One and Sports car racing through its Scuderia Ferrari sporting division as well as supplying cars and engines to other teams and for one-make race series. Korean tourists can visit the Ferrari Museum in lamborghini. They can also visit the Ferrari factory by appointment, a unique opportunity, because in addition to the excellent food of Modena restaurants you can visit two unique museums in the world.
