코로나의 길고 어두운 터널 후에 맞게 되는 아직은 쌀쌀하지만, 유난히 희망찬 봄입니다.
연세음악연구소가 이탈리아 문화원과 공동으로 유럽에서 활발히 활동하는 이탈리아 작곡가 Nicola Sani를 초청하여 그의 음악을 진지하게 듣고, 이탈리아 현대음악의 흐름을 다양한 시각에서 살펴보는 학술포럼과 연주회를 개최하게 됨을 기쁘게 생각합니다.
최고의 연주자들이 선사하는 Sani의 최신 작품들은 이탈리아 현대음악을 국내에 소개하는 중요한 계기가 될 뿐 아니라, 그의 음악을 포함한 이탈리아 현대음악 전통에 대한, 국내 음악학자들의 통찰력 있는 논의 역시 북미와 독일 중심의 음악학 담론에 신선한 숨을 불어넣으리라 생각합니다.
연주자, 학자, 그리고 신진 작곡가들이 마련할 이번 학술포럼과 콘서트에 여러분을 정중히 초대합니다.

I am delighted to welcome you all here and to present to you what I hope will be an enjoyable night of music.
Professor and cellist Sung-Won Yang will perform music written by composer and artistic director Nicola Sani. The concert, titled ‘Nicola Sani, sound fragments beyond the horizons’ will follow a special lecture held by maestro Sani. The synergy that South Korea and Italy have created is consistently increasing and strengthening the relationship between our countries. Music seems to be one of the most effective ways that allows to promote Italian culture and interest to the Korean audience.
Tonight, I am proud to introduce maestro Nicola Sani, renowned composer and artistic director, author of copious and famous stage and dance operas, symphonies and multimedia installations, and professor and cellist Sung-Won Yang, who teaches at Yonsei University among others, and has played in numerous prestigious venues all
over the world. These musicians will delight us with a special lecture and the following debate and a concert for trio, consisting of violin, cello and piano.
I warmly thank the Yonsei Music Research Institute and IlshinHall which have collaborated with the Italian Cultural Institute of Seoul. We sincerely wish this to be a way to improve for future collaborations. I once again thank you all for your presence, for the support and cooperation of our partners, to our guests and all of the musicians. I hope you will spend a delectable night dedicated to music. 니꼴라 싸니(Nicola Sani, 1961~)

싸니는 이탈리아 페라라 출신의 작곡가로, 디지털 악기와 전통악기를 혼합한 전자음악 분야의 전문가이다.
1960-70년대 새 음악 운동(New Music Movement)의 대표적인 작곡가 도메니코 과체로(Domenico Guaccero)에게 작곡을 사사하였고, 지오르지오 노톨리(Giorgio Nottoli)에게 전자음악을 배웠으며, 카를하인츠 슈톡하우젠(Karlheinz Stockhausen)과 공부하였다.
싸니의 작품들은 수비니 체르보니(Suvini Zerboni), 챈도스 레코드(Chandos Record) 등 많은 음반회사들에 의해 출시되었고, 그가 협업한 비디오 예술은 오스트리아의 아르스 일렉트로니카(Ars Electronica)에서 1등, 프릭스 이탈리아(Prix Italia)에서 특별심사위원상 등을 수상하였다.
싸니는 또한 지아친토 셀시(Giacinto Scelsi)재단 및 루이지 노노(Luigi Nono)재단에서 일하며 이들의 음악을 연구하고 현대음악을 적극적으로 알리는 일에 앞장서 왔으며, 시에나 음악 연구소(Accademia Musicale Chigiana) 등에서 예술 감독으로 일하며 대중과의 소통에 힘쓰고 있다.
