[아츠앤컬쳐] 나리뇨주의 주도인 파스토는 고요한 아름다움을 지닌 놀라운 도시다. 콜롬비아의 “서프라이즈 시티”라는 별칭으로도 불린다. 파스토는 다문화 축제 ‘Carnaval de Negros y Blancos’와 아름다운 건물, 특히 각 거리 모퉁이마다 간결한 아름다움이 돋보이는 교회들로 유명하다.

또한, 이 도시는 원주민 공동체의 천년 전통을 비롯하여 도시를 감싸고 있는 신비로운 화산과 호수 이야기로도 잘 알려져 있다. 이 모든 것이 합하여 파스토에서 창의적인 나리뇨 수공예품이 탄생했는데, 목각, 가죽 세공, 양모 및 피케 섬유 제품, 돌 조각품 등 다양한 재료와 기술로 만든 아름답고 수준 높은 작품을 만나볼 수 있다.

파스토에 가는 방법

보고타에서 파스토에 가려면 버스나 비행기를 이용한다. 자동차로 이동한다면, 팬아메리칸 하이웨이를 타고 남쪽으로 약 7~8시간 정도 걸린다. 파스토 표지판을 따라가다 보면 이 풍부한 문화의 도시에 이르게 될 것이다.

파스토에서는 무엇을 할까?

파스토 여행을 정말 독특한 경험으로 만들고 싶다면 매년 1월에 열리는 전통 축제인 ‘Carnaval de Negros y Blancos’ 기간에 꼭 방문해 보기를 권한다. 2009년 유네스코는 이 지역의 다문화성을 강조하기 위해 이 카니발을 인류 무형문화유산 목록에 추가한 바 있다.

파스토의 기념일 역시 중요한 행사인데, 콜롬비아에서 가장 오래된 도시 중 하나이자 나리뇨의 주도이기 때문이다. 6월 내내 예술, 문화, 종교, 레크리에이션 행사로 축제가 벌어진다.

갈레라스 화산이나 당당한 높이 덕분에 ‘잠자는 사자’라는 애칭을 가진 곳에도 가 보자. 계곡, 강, 네 개의 석호 네그라, 베르데, 텔피스, 메히아가 있는 화산 주변은 야생동물 보호구역이다. 라 코로타 섬이 있는 화산 분화구 호수인 라 코차도 방문할 수 있다. 꽃으로 장식한 스위스 스타일 목조 주택이 있는 엘 엔카노 마을에서 보트를 타고 건널 수 있다.

더 찾아볼 만한 곳에 산타로사 근처에 위치한 고고학 묘지가 있다. 무덤의 깊이는 16~132피트이고 많은 신화와 전설에 영감을 주었으며, 한때 이 지역에 거주했던 Quillasingas의 유물과 도자기를 발견할 수 있다.

마지막으로, 콜롬비아의 국립기념물 중 하나로 1900년대 초에 과이타라 강 협곡에 세운 아름다운 라스 라하스 바실리카도 꼭 찾아보기 바란다.

The city is also famous for the story surrounding it, composed of millennial traditions in the indigenous communities and mysteries within the Volcanos and Lagoons. How to get to Pasto

To reach Pasto from Bogotá, you can take a bus or a plane from Bogotá. By car, head south on the Pan-American Highway, a journey that typically takes around 7 to 8 hours. Just follow the signs for Pasto, and your adventure will conclude in this culturally rich city.

What to do in Pasto?

If you want your trip to Pasto to be a truly unique experience, make sure to visit during the Carnaval de Negros y Blancos. The Carnaval de Negros y Blancos is a traditional festival celebrated in January each year. In 2009, Unesco added the carnival to its List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity for its emphasis on the area’s multiculturality.

Pasto’s anniversary is also a momentous occasion, as Pasto is both one of Colombia’s oldest cities and the capital of Nariño. It is celebrated with artistic, cultural, religious, and recreational events throughout June.

Don’t forget to visit the Galeras volcano or, as it’s affectionately known thanks to its imposing height, the ‘Sleeping Lion.’ Around the volcano is the Galeras Volcano Wildlife Sanctuary, where you’ll find ravines, rivers, and four lagoons: the Negra, Verde, Telpis, and Mejía.

You can also visit La Cocha Lagoon, a volcanic crater lake where the island of La Corota is located. The lake can be crossed by boat from the town of El Encano, where wooden, Swiss-style homes adorned with flowers are visible.

The Archaeological Cemetery, located in nearby Santa Rosa, is another place you’ll want to visit during your stay. There you’ll find remains and ceramics from the QUILLASINGAS who once inhabited the area. The tombs are between 16 and 132 feet deep and have inspired many myths and legends.

Finally, you should also take a moment to see the stunning Las Lajas Sanctuary, a gorgeous basilica church built in the early 1900s. Located in the Guáitara River Canyon, the Las Lajas Sanctuary is one of Colombia’s National Monuments.
