콜롬비아 커피 이야기

[아츠앤컬쳐] 콜롬비아 사람들과 친해지려면 콜롬비아 커피를 칭찬하면 된다. 커피가 국가의 상징이며 국민의 자존심이기 때문이다. 반세기 내전으로 얼룩진 국가 이미지를 개선하는 데에도 커피가 크게 기여했다.

콜롬비아는 1년에 60kg 들이 포대로 1,200 만개를 생산하는 세계 3위 생산국으로 고급 종인 아라비카 재배만을 고집한다.

가격 기준으로 우리나라에 커피를 제일 많이 수출하는 커피 생산국도 콜롬비아다.

15개 주가 커피를 생산하지만 에헤 카페테로로 불리는 칼다스 리사랄다 및 킨디오 3개 주가 커피의 메카다. 유네스코는 2011년에 이 지역의 커피 경관을 세계문화유산으로 지정했다. 에코투어리즘과 마니살레스 축제 그리고 로스 네바도스 국립자연공원과 국립커피공원은 이 지역 주요 관광상품이다.

요즈음에는 스페셜티 커피 주산지인 우일라주와 나리뇨주가 새로운 커피 중심지로 주목받고 있다. 커피라는 창을 통해 콜롬비아를 바라보는 재미가 쏠쏠하다. 콜롬비아 커피를 더 알아보고 그의 역사와 산업을 이해하려면, ‘커피 한 잔 할래요?’라는 책을 통해 체험하길 바란다.

To build rapport with Colombians, complement their coffee! More than just a delicious drink, it's a national symbol and source of pride. Coffee has even played a significant role in improving the country's image, tarnished by decades of civil war.

Colombia is the world's third-largest producer, churning out 12 million/ 60-kilogram bags annually, focusing solely on cultivating the high-quality Arabica variety. In fact, it exports the most coffee to Korea based on price. While coffee production spans 15 departments, the three main ones – Caldas, Risaralda, and Quindío – are known as the Eje Cafetero, the coffee mecca.

UNESCO even designated this region's coffee landscape a World Heritage site in 2011. Eco-tourism, the vibrant Manizales Festival, Los Nevados National Natural Park, and the National Coffee Park are just a few of the area's captivating attractions.

Recently, departments like Huila and Nariño, renowned for their specialty coffee, are emerging as exciting new coffee centers. Dive deeper into Colombia's rich coffee culture and history through immersive experiences like coffee farm tours or online shops dedicated to single-origin beans.
