[아츠앤컬쳐] 비엔나에서 브라티슬라바 또는 부다페스트로 가는 방법은 유람선이나 기차, 버스 또는 자전거가 있는데, 그 중에서도 배나 자전거가 가장 좋다. 비엔나 교외를 지나면 바로 오스트리아와 헝가리에서 ‘콘 챔버’라 부르는 헝가리 들판이 시작된다. 덥고 건조한 사막기후의 여름과 매우 추운 겨울의 ‘텅 빈’ 곳으로, 야채와 과일, 고품질의 레드와인 재배에 최적의 장소다.

금세기 초에 오스트리아가 EU 회원국이 되며 이곳이 1급 재정 지원 지역이 되어, 대부분의 와이너리가 생산량을 늘리고 품질을 향상시키기 위해 생산시설을 업그레이드할 수 있었다. 그 이후 오스트리아 와인은 국제 와인 평가 그룹에 의해 최고 등급의 와인이 되었다. 이 지역의 포도 품종으로 ‘블라우프랑키쉬’와 ‘쯔바이겔트’가 널리 알려져 있으며, 한국에 유명한 와인 ‘생 라우렌트’는 바닐라와 과일 맛이 나는 미디엄바디에서 풀바디의 레드와인이다.

이 와인 지역 가까이에 유럽에서 가장 큰 호수 중 ‘노이지들러’가 있다. 이 호수의 1/3은 헝가리에 속하는데, 호수의 크기뿐만 아니라 그 깊이도 가장 깊은 곳이 2m 정도로서 이른바 ‘디저트 레이크’라 불린다. 해수욕장과 보트 대여소가 많고, 수면에 위치한 멋진 식당과 바가 유명한 휴양지로, 현지 생산의 치즈, 햄, 많은 야채와 함께 언급된 레드와인 또는 초겨울에 수확한 마른 포도로 만든 TBA(트로켄 베렌 아우스레제)가 나온다. 이 와인은 포도 생산에 독특한 기후와 매우 특별한 기술이 필요하기 때문에 이 지역의 황금이라고도 불리며, 그 맛은 캐나다의 ‘아이스와인’과 비슷하다.

다시 강으로 돌아가면 비엔나와 브라티슬라바 사이에 고대 마을 카르눈툼이 나온다. 이 유적은 약 2100년 전에 세워진 이 지역 최초의 로마 정착지 중 하나다. 로마인들이 훨씬 앞선 기술을 이 지역에 전했는데 그 중 와인 재배법이 있어 이제는 주요 무역 품목이 되었고 많은 사람들이 즐기게 된 것이다.

도나우 강을 따라 더 내려가면 오스트리아, 헝가리, 슬로바키아 3개국의 국경이 있다. 100년 전, 이 국가들은 당시 유럽에서 가장 크고 강력한 제국 중 하나인 오스트리아 헝가리 제국에 속해 있었다.

슬로바키아의 대도시이자 수도인 브라티슬라바는 국경 바로 옆 다뉴브강에 위치한다. 브라티슬라바 또는 옛 독일 이름 프레스부르크는 제국 스타일의 비엔나, 프라하 또는 부다페스트와 유사하게 설계되었다.

Die Donau Part 4 From Vienna to Bratislava

Leaving Vienna to Bratislava or Budapest can be done by Hydrofoil, Train, Bus or Bicycle. The best is by boat or still the bicycle, to see the different country site. Right after the suburbs of Vienna the Hungarian flat starts, the “Corn-Chamber” of Austria and Hungary. A large flat area with desert climate Hot and Dry in Summer and during the day, very cold in Wintertime – “The Pusta”. The best climate for growing vegetable, fruits, and excellent Red Wine.

At the beginning of this century when Austria became a member of the EU, this area became first grade financial support county and most of the wineries could get a grand for upgrade their production facilities which lead to increase and improve the quantity and the most important quality. Since that time Austrian wines became top ranked wines by the international wine evaluation groups. This area is well known of the local grape varieties of “Blaufränkisch”, “Zweigelt” and the famous wine for Korean taste the “St. Laurent” all of them are red wines medium to full bodied with a wonderful taste of Vanilla and fruits.

Closed to this wine area one of the largest lakes in Europe can be found the “Neusiedlersee”. This lake is special, not only from the size of the lake, which 1/3rd is located in Hungary, but from his deepness, the deepest point is 2m this kind of lake it is called “Dessert Lake”. It is a famous recreation area with a lot of beaches and boat rental and wonderful restaurants and bars direct located on the water front, serving local cheese, ham and a lot of vegetables combined with mentioned Red wine or a TBA “Trocken Beeren Auslese” a sweet wine made of dry wine grapes harvested in the
beginning of the wintertime. This wine is also called the Gold of the region, because it needs a unique climate to produce and a very special technique together with a lot of grapes. It is similar in taste to the “Ice Wine” from Canada.

Coming back to the river, just in the middle between Vienna and Bratislava, the ancient village remains of Carnuntum can be found, one of the first Roman settlements in this area erected about 2100 years ago. The Romans have been important to this region, to bring their technology knowhow, which was far ahead, to the existing local civilisation in this area. One of the knowhows what was introduced was the wine growing technics, now which became a major trade item and enjoyed by many of us.

Further down the Donau river the border of the 3 countries Austria, Hungary and Slovakia can be found. Hundred years ago, all these countries belong to one Empire - The Austrian Hungarian Empire - one of the largest and powerful empire at that time in Europe. Bratislava the next large city and capital of Slovakia is right next to the border located at the Danube River. Bratislava or with the old German name Pressburg is similar designed as Vienna, Praha or Budapest in the empire style.
