[아츠앤컬쳐]  오늘은 움브리아와 그 아름다움에 관한 이야기다.

실제로 움브리아처럼 강렬한 감정을 불러일으키는 지역은 어느 곳에서도 찾아보기 힘들다. 독특한 형상에 여러 영혼이 머무는 듯한 이 지역을 가로지르는 일은 절정의 자연 환경 위에 영적, 예술적 증거들이 서로 완벽하게 어우러진 다른 차원으로 들어가는 것과 같다. 강과 트라시메노 호수 옆으로는 큰 계곡들이 뚜렷하고, 삼림으로 뒤덮인 언덕과 대리석 폭포로 쉽게 잊지 못할 산악지형도 뻗어있다. 또한, 종종 나타나는 산봉우리마다 성과 마을이 모여 앉은 그림 같은 언덕들을 즐기기 바란다.

이 밖에도 이른바 이탈리아의 푸른 심장이 있다. 이곳은 예술과 역사, 종교가 만나는 곳이다. 박물관, 교회, 은신처, 수도원, 도서관, 아카이브, 고고학 유적지, 기념비, 극장 등 움브리아의 보물들을 모두 찾아 봐야 한다.

특히 오늘 우리는 몬테팔코와 노르치아의 카스텔루치오라는 두 장소에 대해 이야기하려 한다. 몬테팔코는 스폴레토와 페루지아를 연결하는 계곡 위에 유력한 위치를 점해 로마시대부터 이미 중요한 지방이었다.

11세기부터 이 도시는 자유 공동체와 르네상스 문화가 번성했다. 몬테팔코는 1335년~1338년에 프란체스코 수도회(작은형제회)를 위해 건축된 산 프란체스코 수도원 박물관과 함께 움브리아의 중요한 유산인 예술 작품들을 보유하고 있다.

이에 관련하여 대단히 귀중한 문화센터인 몬테팔코 박물관이 있다. 이곳은 3개의 전시 공간이 있는데, 예전에 교회였던 건물로 1450년~1452년에 베노초 고촐리가 성 프란체스코의 삶을 묘사한 프레스코화로 전 세계에 알려졌으며, 또한 르네상스의 대표 화가 페루지노의 작품들이 전시되어 있다.

또한, 몬테팔코는 사그란티노 와인으로 유명하다. 이곳이 바로 사그란티노 고대 품종의 원산지이다. 라틴어 sacer에서 유래하여 기독교 전통을 축하하는 제주(祭酒)로 전원생활에서 원래 건포도 스타일로 마셨다. 이 마을은 주로 농림지, 포도밭과 올리브 나무를 관리한다.

노르치아의 카스텔루치오
움브리아의 가장 중요한 예술 도시 중 하나인 노르치아 근교의 카스텔루치오는 ‘피오리타’로 유명하다. 이곳은 발네리나의 중심부로 그저 단순히 작은 움브리아 마을이 아니다. 사람과 자연이 조화를 이루는 마력을 뿜어내는 매우 감성적인 곳이며 마을을 품은 들판은 스스로 아름다운 존재임을 노래한다.

매년 5월과 7월 사이의 수주 동안 이곳의 목초지는 단조로웠던 색을 벗어나 환상적인 색상의 모자이크를 이루어내며 우리의 눈과 마음을 충만하게 한다. 실제로 매년 5월 말과 7월 초 사이에, 평원은 표정이 바뀌고 다양한 색깔을 뽐내는데 그 엄청난 자연이 발현하는 풍광에 넋을 잃고 그저 감탄할 따름이다(이런 관용어로는 적절한 표현을 찾기 힘들만큼 아름답다). 노르치아의 카스텔루치오는 만개(滿開)한 꽃으로 뒤덮이며 ‘피오리타, 피오리투라’라고 부른다. 수천 개의 꽃봉오리가 피어난 평원은 황토색에서 붉은색, 보라색에서 흰색에 이르는 색조로 온갖 색이 넘쳐난다. 이 독특한 장관은 진정 자연만이 그려낼 수 있는 그림이라 분명히 말할 수 있다.

Umbria: The frescoes from human to nature

Today we talk about Umbria and its beauty. Few regions are like Umbria, capable of arousing such intense emotions. For the visitor, crossing this region with different profiles and multiple souls is like entering into a dimension where spiritual suggestions, artistic testimonies and environmental highlights perfectly complement each other. Large valleys defined by rivers and Lake Trasimeno; a mountainous terrain which extends between woodland-covered hills and made unforgettable by the Marmore Waterfalls. Enjoy picturesque hills that often have villages and castles at their peaks.

All this and much more besides: the Green Heart of Italy. A place, where art, history and religion meet. Museums, churches, hermitages, abbeys, libraries, archives, archaeological sites, monumental complexes, theatres: the treasures of Umbria, all to be discovered.

Today we will talk about two very particular places: Montefalco e Castelluccio di Norcia. Montefalco was already an important municipality in Roman times due to its dominant position above the valley connecting Spoleto and Perugia. From the 11th century the town flourished in the culture of the free communes and the Renaissance. Montefalco encloses an important heritage of art that makes it an essential point of reference to understand Umbrian painting, starting from the church museum of San Francesco, constructed for the Minor Friars between 1335 and 1338. Very important cultural center , in Montefalco we can visit the museum.

The building is laid out in three exhibition spaces: the ex-church, known the world over for the fresco cycle painted by Benozzo Gozzoli between 1450 and 1452 that depicts the Life of Saint Francis, and where there is also displayed a painting of one of the most important painter of Renaissance: Perugino.

Montefalco is very famous for the wine Sagrantino. This is the land of Sagrantino, an ancient varietal in its land of birth. From the Latin sacer, a sacred wine for the celebrations of Christian tradition that marked the rhythm of rural life, it was originally consumed in the passita style. The village oversees a mainly agricultural land of woods, vineyards and olive trees.

Castelluccio di Norcia
Near to Norcia, one of the most important art cities of Umbria, Castelluccio di Norcia is very famous for the Fiorita. Castelluccio di Norcia is more than a simple little Umbrian town. Castelluccio is an emotion, a magic place where men and nature blend themselves and find their harmony. The frame in which the town is nestled speaks for itself: Castelluccio di Norcia is located in the hret aof Valnerina.

Every year, during many weeks between May and July, an incredible mosaic of colours breaks the chromatic monotony of the grazing lands and it is able to fill eyes and heart. Between the end of May and the beginning of July of each year, in fact, the plains change face and become a triumph of multicolored shades, thanks to the spectacle of nature (the case was never more appropriate for such an idiomatic expression) called "Fiorita" or "Fioritura" (the Flowering) of Castelluccio di Norcia. Thousands of flowers bloom the plateau, bursting with colors, with shades ranging from yellow ocher to red, from violet to white. A unique experience, which we can define: the true painting of nature.
