크로아티아의 해안선은 1,777km에 달하며, 1,246개의 섬의 해안선을 합하면 6,000km에 이른다. 지중해에서 가장 움푹 들어간 크로아티아 아드리아해는 북쪽의 이스트리아반도에서 남쪽의 두브로브니크 지역까지 그림같은 해변, 매력적인 항구, 숨겨진 작은 만이 모자이크처럼 펼쳐진다.

크로아티아 해변 중에서 가장 아름다운 해변을 고르는 것은 거의 불가능하다. 모래, 자갈, 돌 및 암벽으로 이루어진 수많은 해변이 있고, 각 해변이 아름다운 자연으로 독특하다. 관광객들은 수영, 스노클링, 스쿠버 다이빙, 항해를 비롯 어떤 수상 스포츠를 선택하든 의심할 여지없이 수정처럼 맑고 푸른 청록색 아드리아해를 즐기게 된다.

1.8 km이상 뻗어 있는 굉장히 멋진 해안으로 유명한 크르크섬의 바슈카는 북 아드리아해에서 가장 아름다운 자갈 해변 중 하나다. 웅장한 산으로 둘러싸인 이곳은 자연의 아름다움과 평온함이 완벽한 조화를 이룬다. 또한, 아드리아해 중앙의 코르나티 군도에 속하는 코르나티 국립공원의 89개 섬은 자다르, 시베니크, 스플리트에서 당일 여행이 가능하다.

코르나티 국립공원은 항해자들의 천국이며, 관광객들은 이곳에서 아름다운 자연과 수많은 작은 만, 수정처럼 맑고 푸른 바다를 즐길 수 있다. 노벨상 수상자인 조지 버나드 쇼는 1929년 코르나티를 방문한 후 이 섬들에 매료되어 이렇게 썼다. “하나님께서 창조의 마지막 날, 그분의 작품을 기념하기 위해 눈물과 별과 숨결로 코르나티 섬을 창조하셨다.“

크로아티아에서 가장 유명한 해변 중 하나는 달마티아의 브라치섬에 있는 황금 뿔로도 유명한 즐라트니 라트다. 이 상징적인 해변은 바다로 뾰족하게 뻗어나가는 독특한 모양으로 유명하며, 자갈이 깔려 있고, 조수와 바람에 따라 방향이 바뀐다.

비스섬은 지중해에서 가장 놀랍도록 멋진 자연 경관이 있는 곳이다. 그 가운데 우뚝 솟은 절벽으로 둘러싸인 맑은 청록색 물이 흐르는 좁은 만에 자리 잡은 스티니바해변이 있다. 인근 비셰보섬은 매혹적인 푸른 동굴과 녹색 동굴로 유명하며, 수정처럼 맑은 바다에서 자연광이 수중 세계를 변화시키는 가운데 환상적인 수영을 즐길 수 있다.

인근의 파샤차 해변은 세계에서 가장 아름다운 해변 50위에 선정되었다. 깨끗한 백사장과 숨 막히는 절경을 자랑하는 이곳은 자연에 몰입하여 쉴 수 있는 완벽한 고요의 오아시스다. 편의시설, 한적한 휴양지, 스쿠버 다이빙, 코나티섬 주변 항해와 함께 활기찬 해변을 찾거나, 플리트비체호수나 크르카와 같은 국립공원에서 놀랍도록 멋진 수변경관을 즐기는 등 크로아티아에는 다양한 옵션이 있다.

Croatia: Home to Europe’s Cleanest Sea Water

In a recent report by the European Commission and the European Environment Agency, Croatia has been recognized as having the cleanest seawater in Europe. This significant recognition highlights Croatia's commitment to sustainable practices and environmental protection, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Adriatic Sea's marine ecosystem and species.

Croatia is a popular tourist destination, known for its crystal blue sea and stunning beaches. Its coastline spans 1,777 kilometres, extending to over 6,000 kilometres with its 1,246 islands. The Croatian Adriatic, the most indented section of the Mediterranean, offers a mosaic of picturesque beaches, charming coastal towns, and hidden coves, from the Istrian peninsula in the north to the Dubrovnik region in the south.

Choosing the most beautiful beach among the dozens along the Croatian coast and islands is almost impossible. There are numerous sandy, pebble, rocky, and stone beaches, each uniquely set within beautiful natural surroundings. Whether tourists choose swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing, or any other water sport, they will undoubtedly enjoy the crystal-clear blue and turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea.

One of the most beautiful pebble beaches on the northern Adriatic is in Baška on the island of Krk, renowned for its stunning shore that stretches over 1.8 kilometres. Framed by majestic mountains, it offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and serenity.

Kornati National Park, located in the central part of the Adriatic Sea, consists of 89 islands and is part of the larger Kornati archipelago, accessible by day trips from Zadar, Šibenik, or Split. It is a paradise for sailors, offering tourists the chance to enjoy its natural beauty, numerous coves, and crystal-clear blue waters. Nobel laureate George Bernard Shaw was so enamored with these islands that, after visiting the Kornati in 1929, he wrote, "On the last day of Creation, God desired to crown His work, and thus created the Kornati islands out of tears, stars, and breath."

One of the most celebrated beaches in Croatia is Zlatni Rat, also known as the Golden Horn, located on the island of Brač in Dalmatia. This iconic beach is renowned for its unique shape—a pebbly spit that stretches into the sea and changes direction with the tides and winds. Its pristine waters and natural beauty make it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Croatia.

The island of Vis is home to some of the most stunning natural attractions in the Mediterranean. Among them is Stiniva Beach, nestled in a narrow bay with clear, turquoise water, surrounded by towering cliffs. The nearby island of Biševo is famous for its mesmerizing Blue Cave and Green Cave, where tourists can enjoy a magical swimming experience as natural light transforms the underwater world in the crystal-clear sea.

Pasjača Beach, near Dubrovnik, has been ranked among the world's top 50 most beautiful beaches. With its pristine white sand and breathtaking views, it is an oasis of tranquillity, perfect for relaxing and immersing oneself in nature.

Whether seeking lively beaches with amenities, a secluded getaway, scuba diving, sailing around the Kornati islands, or enjoying stunning waters in national parks like Plitvice Lakes or Krka, Croatia offers diverse options.
