[아츠앤컬쳐] 시작
1970년대에 크시슈토프 펜데레츠키는 창조적인 작품 활동을 이어나갈 수 있는 장소를 찾고 있었다. 결국 그는 루스와비츠 매너하우스를 선택했는데 이 곳은 실제 저택이자 특별한 문화·역사적 의미가 있는 장소이다. 이 매너하우스는 모든 관광객들에게공개되어 있으며 그들을 반겨주고 있다. 옛 폴란드의 컨트리 매너 스타일을 유지하고 있어 소박한 자유의 정취를 느낄 수 있다.

16세기 말~17세기 초에 루스와비츠에 설립된 학교에서 폴란드 신도 아리안스의 관용과 영적 형제애에 대한 철학이 전 세계로 퍼져 나갔다. 화가 야첵 말체프스가 예술적 재능이 있는 지역 아동들을 대상으로 그림을 가르친 곳도 여기에 있다. 크시슈토프 펜데레츠키는 루스와비체의 이 전통을 이어 가고자 했다.

1980년 여름 개최된 루스와비체 콘서트에서 독특한 음악 센터를 만들겠다는 그의 아이디어가 탄생했다. 그로부터 20년 후에는 협회를 설립했고 새로운 문화 기관이 설립되었다. 2005 년에 설립된 크시슈토프 펜데레츠키 유럽 음악 센터는 문화 및 국가 유산부처에 등재되어 국가 문화 기관의 지위를 획득했다.

활동
크시슈토프 펜데레츠키 유럽 음악 센터는 젊고 재능 있는 음악가들이 진정한 예술적 성취를 이룰 수 있게 격려하고 있다. 마스터클래스, 솔로, 실내악단과 오케스트라 워크숍, 세미나 및 강의는 마스터와 학생들 사이의 관계를 끈끈히 한다.

이 센터는 젊은음악가들과 공연 예술 거장, 작곡가, 그리고 넓게는 인문학적 지식을 가진 뛰어난 인물들이 만나는 만남의 장소다. 센터에서는 실용적인 공연 기획과 공연 해석 기술 개발에 초점을 맞춰 음악에 대한 지식, 유럽 음악의 형식과 장르의 역사, 음악 작품의 미적 특성 등을 교육하고 있다.

광범위한 음악 교육 외에 루스와비체 센터의 두 번째 주요 활동 영역은 콘서트와 축제 개최다. 세계 고전 걸작 음악부터 최신작에 이르기까지 다양하게 선보이고 있다. 루스와비체 센터는 젊은 세대의 예술가와 그들의 마스터들이 함께 만들어낸 신곡을 다양한 연령층의 관객들 앞에서 선보이는 것을 장려하고 있으며 그것이 가장 중요한 센터의 특징이다.

건설
크시슈토프 펜데레츠키의 위대한 꿈은 센터의 본부가 완공되면서 이루어졌다. 이로써 독특한 국제 음악 센터가 설립되었다. 하나로 통합된 아이디어 아래 모인 팀이 수년간에 걸친 노력 끝에 뛰어난 건축물을 완성했다. 국가적 사업 치고는 전체 캠퍼스를 건설하는데 특이하게도 16개월 밖에 걸리지 않았다. 세계적 수준의 교육과 콘서트 장소의 건설로 압도적인 성공을 거뒀다고 할 수 있다.

Penderecki European Centre for Music

The beginnings
In the 1970s, Krzysztof Penderecki was looking for a place to harbour him and his creative pursuits. Eventually, he chose the Lusławice Manor House: a true home, moreover, one of exceptional significance for culture and history. A manor house is open for every tourists. Inviting and hospitable. An emanation of bygone Polishness, the country manor style evokes an aura of unpretentious freedom.

In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, the philosophy of the Polish Brethren – Arians with its ideas of tolerance and spiritual brotherhood radiated from Lusławice to the world thanks to the school they instituted here. It was also here that the painter Jacek Malczewski taught artistically talented local children to draw and paint. Living in Lusławice, Krzysztof Penderecki intended to continue the tradition.

The idea to create a unique centre for music was born during the first Lusławice concerts organised in the summer of 1980. Two decades later, the composer had an association set up, and in consequence, a new cultural institution established.

The activity
The operation of the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music follows the lodestar of inspiring the most talented young musicians to hone their skills in the pursuit of true artistic maturity.

Master classes, solo, chamber and orchestra workshops, seminars, and lectures emphasise the relationship between the master and the student. The centre is the meeting place for the young aficionados of music with masters of the performing arts and composers, and also with outstanding figures of what is broadly construed as humanities.

Extensive education at all the stages of artistic development focuses on the development of practical performing and interpretation skills, and also reinforces the knowledge of musical styles, history of the forms and genres of European music, and the aesthetic qualities of a work of music and its place in culture. Next to the comprehensive musical education, the second key realm of activity of the Lusławice Centre are concerts and festivals. The presentations range from classical masterpieces of world music literature to the latest works. The emphasis on promoting the recently composed works performed by the artists of the young generation and their masters among wideranging audiences is an individual and important trait of the Lusławice Centre.

The construction
Krzysztof Penderecki’s great dream came true with the completion of the headquarters of the centre: a unique international centre for music was set up. This exceptional work of architecture is the fulfilment of many long years of efforts of a team gathered around the unifying idea. The construction of the centre was a singularity on at least a national scale as it only took 16 months to create the whole campus. The construction of a world-class education and concert site has been an overwhelming success.
