[아츠앤컬쳐] 이런 풍경을 한 번 상상해 보자. 따뜻한 여름 오후, 해가 지기 직전, 짭짤한 바람이 코끝을 스치고, 이탈리아 여름의 정수를 온전히 느끼며 야경을 즐길 준비를 하는 모습 말이다.

칠렌토 지역은 다양하고 아름다운 마을들과 해변이 펼쳐져 있어, 이탈리아 남부 지중해의 아름다움을 제대로 감상할 수 있는 곳이다. 그중에서도 가장 멋진 곳 중 하나는 카파쵸-파에스툼 주변 지역이다. 이곳에서는 해변에서 여유로운 하루를 즐길 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 귀중한 고고학적 보물들을 탐험할 수도 있다.

캄파니아 주 남부, 살레르노 현에 위치한 칠렌토에는 다양한 해변이 있으며, 그중 20개의 해변은 2024년에 블루 플래그 인증을 받았는데, 카파쵸 마을에 있는 해변도 그중 하나다. 이 지위는 해당 해안 지역이 품질 및 관련 기준에 대한 유럽 표준을 충족한다는 것을 공식적으로 인정하는 것이다. 아름답고 아늑한 칠렌토 해변은 하얀 모래와 수정처럼 맑은 바다를 자랑하며, 사랑하는 사람들과 함께 느긋한 여름 휴가를 즐기기에 더할 나위 없이 좋다.

칠렌토의 다양한 해변 마을들 중에서 파에스툼을 특별하게 만드는 것은 바로 역사다. 이 지역 전체는 구석기시대부터 사람이 살았던 것으로 보이며, 최초의 문명은 적어도 청동기 시대로 거슬러 올라간다. 더 중요한 것은, 현재의 파에스툼 지역에 한때 고대 그리스 식민지가 있었다는 점이다. 이는 “마냐 그레챠” 시대로 알려진, 남부 이탈리아 역사의 찬란했던 시기를 보여주는 증거다.

여름 휴가를 이곳에서 보내기로 결정했다면, 시간을 내어 고고학 유적지를 꼭 방문해 보기 바란다. 시바리에서 온 그리스 정착민들이 세운 "포세이도니아"의 웅장함을 다시금 느낄 수 있는 곳이다. 기원전 237년, 포세이도니아는 고대 로마-라틴 문화로 전환되면서 이름이 파에스툼으로 바뀌었다. 오늘날 고고학 공원에는 두 문화가 함께 어우러져 있으며, 방문객들은 여전히 로마 원형극장과 헤라, 아테나 같은 신들을 기리는 신전의 일부를 감상할 수 있다.

하지만 파에스툼을 특별하게 만드는 것은 자연의 매력과 유구한 역사의 영광만이 아니다. 이곳에서는 캄파니아 요리의 진수를 즐길 수 있다. 지역의 가족 운영 농장에서 만든 수제 모짜렐라 치즈부터 독특한 나폴리 스타일의 피자까지, 이 지역 음식은 분명 모든 사람의 입맛을 사로잡을 것이다.

진정한 이탈리아 스타일로 해변에서 여유롭게 휴식을 취하든 고대 역사에 관심이 많든, 이 조용하면서도 멋진 마을이 바로 여러분이 찾고 있던 곳일지도 모른다!

Cilento and Paestum

Imagine this scenery: a warm summer afternoon, right before the sun sets, the salty breeze wafting through your nostrils, getting ready to enjoy a night spectacle truly living the essence of the Italian summer.

The Cilento area offers a variety of beautiful seaside locations and towns, where you can enjoy the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea in Southern Italy. For us, one of the best ones is the area around Capaccio-Paestum. Here, you can not only enjoy a relaxing day at the beach, but also explore inestimable archeological treasures.

Located in the South of the Campania region, in the Salerno Province, Cilento offers a variety of beaches, twenty of which gained the Blue Flag certification in 2024, included the ones in the town of Capaccio. Such status recognizes officially that a seaside location meets the European standards for quality and related criteria. The beauty and intimacy of Cilento’s beaches, with their white sand and crystal-clear sea, make it a great location to enjoy a laidback summer vacation with your loved ones.

What makes Paestum unique among the various seaside towns of Cilento is its history. The whole area seems to have been inhabited as far as the Paleolithic age, and the first civility inputs trace back at least at the Bronze Age. More importantly, in what is now known as Paestum, there was once an ancient Greek colony, a true testimony of a glorious part of Southern Italy’s history, knows as the Magna Grecia age.

If you chose to spend your summer vacations here, make sure to make time to visit the Archeological Site ruins, which will give you the chance to relieve the majesty of Poseidonia, founded by the Greece settlers from Sibari, which changed its name into Paestum in 237 B.C., when the town experienced a shift towards the Ancient Roman-Latin culture. In the Archeological Park today both of these cultures stand together, and visitors can still admire parts of what once where the Roman amphitheater and temples that celebrated the deities such as Hera and Athena.

However, its nature’s appeal and its deep history’s glory alone are not the only things that make Paestum special. Here, of course, you can enjoy the delicacies of Campania’s cuisine: from handmade mozzarella cheese from local family-owned businesses to the distinctive Neapolitan style pizza, this region will for sure leave a mark everybody’s taste buds.

Whether you enjoy relaxing on the beach, in the true Italian style, or you are passionate in ancient history, this quiet yet wonderful town might be what you are looking for!
