GORS는 2013년 라트비아에서 가장 중요한 문화 건축물 중 하나로 건축가 울디스 발로디스와 다이가 빅쉐의 작품이며, 라트비아 최초로 완벽하게 새로운 어쿠스틱 콘서트 홀이다. 2개의 어쿠스틱 콘서트홀은 세계적 수준의 음향, 우수한 이벤트 프로그램, 콘서트, 전시회, 영화, 세미나 및 여타 활동을 위한 장소로, 그 우수성은 이미 유명한 라트비아 및 세계 아티스트들에 의해 평가된 바 있다.

GORS는 실제로 라트갈레어로 영혼을 의미하며 특유의 사운드를 가지고 있다. GORS의 이벤트는 스트라빈스키에서 보니 필즈(블루스와 펑크), 재즈 빅 밴드, 발레, 리차드 스트라우스 및 슬라보예 지젝과 조던 피터슨에 이르기까지 실제로 모든 것이 놀랍도록 다양하게 펼쳐지고 있다.

도시에서 가장 오래된 역사적 기념물로는 중세 성터가 있다. 고대 라트갈레의 요새화된 정착지는 9 세기에서 12 세기까지 강둑의 언덕에 위치해 있었고, 13세기 말에는 리보니아 기사단의 로지튼성이 그곳에 세워졌다.

레제크네에서 가장 눈에 띄는 라트갈레 해방 기념비는 용기, 자유, 통합을 상징한다. 이 기념비는 1920년 라트비아 자유 투쟁의 군인들에게 헌정된 것으로, 라트비아 국가의 자유와 통합에 대한 이념을 구현하고 있다.

또한, ‘제이물스’ 타워의 테라스로 올라가 구시가지의 멋진 전망을 즐겨보기 바란다. 이 건물은 대담하고 특이한 건축 솔루션으로 특별한데, 녹색 지붕에 기울어진 탑이 있고, 그 위에 관광 전망대가 있어 성 유적과 도시의 역사 지구의 멋진 전망을 제공한다.

그리고 현대 도시 환경의 목조 건축 유산은 유대인 문화와 전통을 접할 수 있게 해 준다. 레제크네 유대교 회당은 도시에서 가장 오래된 목조 건물(1845년)이며 오늘날까지 살아남은 11개의 회당 중 하나다.

Half of the population of Latvia live around the capital area, similarly to Seoul. Therefore, a lot of people choose Riga and places around it for tourism. However, Latvia doesn’t only consist of the capital, it has four distinct regions – Vidzeme, Kurzeme, Zemgale and Latgale. Latgale is the region of Latvia with lots of charisma and untouched nature. What is more, it also has a distinctive soul, which I am going to talk about in this month’s article.

GORS is the first built in Latvia absolutely new acoustic concert hall, one of the most significant cultural buildings of 2013 in Latvia (architects Uldis Balodis and Daiga Bikše).

GORS actually means soul in Latgalian language, which has a distinctive sound to it. The events in GORS showcase an amazing variety – everything from Stravinsky to Boney Fields (Blues and Funk), Jazz Big Band, Ballet, Richard Strauss and Slavoy Žižek against Jordan Peterson.

Medieval castle ruins are the oldest historical monument of the city. A fortified settlement of ancient Latgalians was located on the hill on the river bank from the 9th to the 12th century; at the end of the 13th century the castle of the Livonian Order (Castrum Rositten) was built there.

The Latgale liberation monument is a symbol of courage, freedom and unity. The most recognizable symbol of Rezekne is dedicated to the soldiers of the Latvian freedom fights of 1920, the monument embodies the idea of freedom and unity of the Latvian state.

Go up to the terrace of the “Zeimuļs” tower and enjoy a wonderful view of the old city. This building is special due to its bold and unusual architectural solution – green roofs and leaning towers, on top of which there are sightseeing platforms, offering wonderful views of the castle ruins and the historic part of the city.

The wooden architecture heritage in a modern urban environment invites you to get acquainted with Jewish culture and traditions. The Rezekne Synagogue is the oldest wooden building in the city (1845) and the only one of 11 synagogues that have survived up to the present time.
