[아츠앤컬쳐] 라트비아는 문화적으로 탄탄한 국가로서 깊은 인상을 남기며 찬사를 받고 있다. 이는 세계적으로 유명한 지휘자 안드리스 넬슨스(곧 서울 공연 예정!)가 지난해 서울에서 공연한 첼리스트 미샤 마이스키와 크레메라타 발티카와 함께 주도하고 있다.

라트비아의 견고한 음악 전통은 라트비아 민속음악이 우수한 평가를 받고 수준 높은 공연장이 많다는 것을 의미한다. 라트비아에서 가장 눈에 띄는 공연장 중 하나는 해변 마을인 리에파야에 있다. 예술 및 문화센터 그레이트 앰버는 시각적으로 리에파야의 상징인 호박(琥珀)을 연상시킨다. 반면에 내부 유리의 오렌지 레드 컬러는 마법적이고 특별한 분위기를 자아내며, 1층에 3개의 고품질 어쿠스틱 콘서트홀과 예술 공간이 있다. 그 뛰어난 음향과 현대적인 건축 디자인, 다목적 기능은 전 세계 전문가들의 관심을 끌었고 공연장에서 각종 상을 수상한 바 있다.

2022년부터 주목할 만한 공연으로는 라트비아 메조소프라노 엘레나 가랑차와 베를린필하모닉오케스트라의 콘서트, 아코디언 연주자 크세니야 시도로바와 스핀토 소프라노 류드밀라 모나스티르스카의 공연이 있다.

라트비아의 수도인 리가에는 라트비아에서 가장 상징적인 공연장들이 있다. 리가의 녹색공원 지역에 세워진 메자파크 야외무대는 문화 및 역사적 의미가 큰 건물로, 150년이 넘는 역사와 전통의 라트비아 가요제가 개최되는 영구적인 장소다. 메자파크는 지난 2021년 6월에 완료된 재건축으로 라트비아 올해의 건축상을 수상한 바 있다. 현재 이 복합단지에는 야외무대, 공연장, 전시장, 회의실, 세미나실 등이 있어 각종 대형 콘서트와 액티비티, 행사에 적합하다. 리가 거주민과 방문객 등 누구든지 라트비아 노래와 춤 축제가 열리는 이 문화 유적지를 방문할 수 있다.

또한, 라트비아 국립오페라발레단은 거의 모든 공연에 언어의 장벽이 존재하지 않으므로 모든 문화 애호가들에게 훌륭한 선택지가 된다. 이 단체는 소노라 바이체, 엘리나 가랑차, 안드리스 넬슨스 등 국제적으로 인정받는 많은 음악인들을 배출한 인재 양성소이기도 하다.

라트비아의 오페라 전통의 시작은 18세기로 거슬러 올라간다. 당시 쿠를란트 공국에서 최초의 음악 공연이 열렸고 리가에서 최초의 순회 오페라단이 결성되었다. 실제 오페라·발레하우스의 본당은 리가의 ‘화이트하우스’라 알려진 오페라하우스가 건축된 1863년 이래 리가의 중심지다.

19세기에 건축된 오페라 건물은 그 자체로 리가의 진주 중 하나이다: 건물의 주요 정면에는 6개의 커다란 이오니아식 기둥이 서 있으며, 그 위에 페디먼트는 아폴로, 비극과 희극의 상징, 드라마의 천재와 같은 몇몇 우화적인 인물로 장식되어 있다. 라트비아 국립오페라발레단(LNOB)은 방문객에게 독특하고 웅장한 인테리어를 감상할 기회를 제공한다. 오늘날 LNOB에서는 클래식에 빠져들고, 현대 공연을 즐기며, 세계 예술을 보거나, 또는 라트비아 공연도 관람할 수 있다.

One of the most striking concert halls in Latvia is located in the seaside town of Liepāja.

The art and culture centre Great Amber is visually reminiscent of the symbol of Liepāja - amber. On the other hand, the orange-red colour of the glass on the inside creates a magical and special mood. It has three high-quality acoustic concert halls, an art space on the ground floor.

Excellent acoustics, modern architectural design and its multi-purpose functionality have attracted the attention of professionals worldwide and have resulted in several awards bestowed on the concert hall.

Notable performances from the year 2022 include the concert of the Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča with the Berliner Philharmoniker and other performances from the accordionist Ksenija Sidorova and spinto soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska.

Latvian capital Riga hosts some of the most iconic performance venues in Latvia.

Mežaparks Open-Air Stage is a cultural and historical building in the green park area of Riga city - Mežaparks. The Open-Air Stage has a great cultural and historical significance, and over time it has become a permanent venue for the more than 150-year-old Latvian Song Festival tradition. The most recent reconstruction was completed in June 2021, and the Latvian Architecture of the Year Award was received for this reconstruction.

At present, the complex includes an open-air stage, a concert hall, an exhibition hall, conference and seminar rooms, which are suitable for all kinds of large-scale concerts, activities and events. Every resident, guest or visitor of the city of Riga has the opportunity to see this important cultural site, the main venue of the General Latvian Song and Dance Festival.

The Latvian National Opera and Ballet is a place where language barriers do not exist in almost any performance, making it a great destination for every cultural gourmand. This institution has been a talent forge for many internationally recognized names in the music world - Sonora Vaice, Elina Garanča, Andris Nelsons and others.

The beginnings of opera traditions in Latvia can be traced back to the 18^th century, when the first musical performances took place in the Duchy of Courland (Kurzemes hercogiste) and the first traveling opera troupes formed in Riga. The home for real opera and ballet house is in the centre of Riga since 1863, when the opera house was built, also known as the “White House” of Riga.

The opera building itself is one of the pearls of Riga: the main facade of its building is marked by six powerful Ionian columns, above which the building's pediment is decorated with several allegorical figures - Apollo, symbols of tragedy and comedy, the genius of drama, The Latvian National Opera and Ballet offers an opportunity to visit the unique architectural monument of the 19^th century, viewing its unique and magnificent interior. Today, at LNOB, it is possible to dive into the genre's classics, enjoy contemporary performances, see worldly art, and visit Latvian performances.
