2025년에 23주년을 맞는 이 빈티지 자동차 기념 행사는 보통 8월 말에 스바르볼라티 무젤라니가 주최한다. 행사의 출발점은 레 마스케레의 역사적인 성, 카스텔로 디 빌라노바다. 아침에 참가자들이 성으로 차를 몰고 들어가면 사진작가가 입구를 천천히 지나가는 각 차량을 촬영한다. 주차 후, 차량을 등록하고 차량에 부착할 번호를 받는다.

이어 푸른 나무들로 둘러싸인 성 정원에서 전통 이탈리아식 아침 식사를 즐기며 즐거운 축제 분위기를 함께한다. 위원회가 운전 시작을 알리면 차량에 탑승하여 무젤로 주변 약 45km의 경치 좋은 도로를 따라 함께 달린다. 코스는 카파지올로-산 피에로 아 시에베-스카르페리아-파소 델 조고-피렌추올라-파소 델라 삼부카-파소 델라 푸타-파소 델라 콜라 등 역사적 문화적 명소들을 지나간다. 작은 시골마을길에서는 사람들이 사진을 찍고 미소를 지으며 “본조르노!” “차오!”라고 인사한다. 길을 따라 경찰관과 위원들이 혹시 언덕을 오르다 멈추는 차량이나 엔진 문제를 대비해 교통 관리를 돕고 지원한다.

무젤로의 ‘라두노 아우토 데포카’의 정신은 친목, 축하, 그리고 빈티지 자동차 퍼레이드에 있다. 무젤로 랠리에 참가하려면 차량 연식(20~30년 이상)과 등록증이 필요하며, 이탈리아 클래식, 수집가용, 희귀 차량으로, 피아트 우노 터보, 피아트 발릴라, 피아트 500, 알파로메오 줄리아·줄레타, 란치아 풀비아·아우렐리아, 아우토비안키, 페라리, 마세라티 등이 있다. 여기에 재규어, 포르쉐, 메르세데스 300XL, 시트로엥 팔라스, 폭스바겐 등 유럽 클래식과 캐딜락 같은 미국 클래식 자동차도 함께한다.

차량들이 랠리의 최종 목적지인 론타의 빌라 세레토에 도착하면, 따뜻한 환영 인사와 함께 간단한 아페리티보를 즐기며, 풍성한 현지 음식과 와인으로 점심 식사를 한다. 그날 운좋은 참가자들은 행운권 추첨으로 선물을 받기도 한다. 아름다운 디자인의 빈티지 자동차들이 주인공이 되는 곳에서 기쁨과 나눔의 완벽한 하루를 보낸다.

Vintage Car Rally in Mugello: A Celebration of Passion

Italy is home to numerous automotive brands with cultural heritage and historical value, including Autobianchi, Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Maserati. The passion to keep vintage cars “alive” historically and run them on the road not only honors their heritage and history, but also developing personal skills, a work-life balance, and a sense of community with the same interests and hobbies. It also offers unique experiences, like driving an Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider (open-roof) through the Tuscan hills on a spring Sunday afternoon.

Italy is known for its passion for vintage cars, and the most famous event celebrating this passion is the Mille Miglia Storica. This annual event brings together participants from across the continent to showcase their iconic and priceless vintage cars to the world. Mugello Toscana also hosts the Raduno Auto D’Epoca(Historic Car Gathering), a small, non-competitive vintage car gathering. Passionate car owners who are passionate about preserving the authenticity, originality, and historical value of their beloved vintage cars gather to enjoy and celebrate a drive through the Mugello hills.

This vintage car celebration, which celebrates its 23rd anniversary in 2025, is typically organized by Svarvolati Mugellani in late August. The event begins at Castello di Villanova, the historic castle of Le Maschere. Participants drive to the castle in the morning, where a photographer captures each car as it passes through the entrance. After parking, they register their vehicles and receive a number to be affixed to their cars.

Following this, they enjoy a traditional Italian breakfast in the castle gardens, surrounded by greeneries, and join in the festive atmosphere. When the committee announces the rally begins, drive their cars and join in the scenic drive along the approximately 45km route around Mugello. The route passes historical and cultural places including Cafaggiolo, San Piero A Sieve, Scarperia, Passo del Giogo, Firenzuola, Passo della Sambuca, Passo della Futa, and Passo della Colla. On the small country roads, people take photos, smile, and say “Bongiorno!” and “Ciao!”. Along the way, police officers and committee members assist with smooth the journey, especially since there are some vintage cars may stop when “climbing” the hills or have engine trouble.

The spirit of Mugello's "Raduno Auto D’Epoca" lies about a friendly gathering, celebration, and showcasing parade of vintage cars. To participate in the Mugello Rally, a vehicle must be 20-30 years old and have a valid registration. The vintage cars that participate are mix of Italian classics, collectible, and rare, namely: Fiat Uno Turbo, Fiat Balilla, Fiat 500, Alfa Romeo Giulia and Giuletta, Lancia Fulvia·Aurelia, Auto Bianchi, Ferrari, and Maserati. European classics like Jaguar, Porsche, Mercedes 300XL, Citroën Pallas, and Volkswagen, also American classics Cadillac.

Upon arriving at Villa Cerreto in Ronta, the rally's final destination, the participants enjoy a warm welcome, enjoyed a light aperitivo, and then enjoyed a big lunch of local food and wine. Lucky participants also win prizes in a lucky draw. A day of joy and sharing where the main actors are those vintage, beautifully designed cars.
