[아츠앤컬쳐] 지엘로나 구라는 폴란드 서부에 위치한 인구 140,000명의 도시로, 유럽에서 가장 큰 공항 중 하나인 베를린 브란덴부르크 공항에서 불과 2시간 거리에 위치해 있다. 따라서 접근성이 매우 좋고 2022년과 2023년에는 도시 건립 800주년과 자치시 권한 부여 700주년을 기념일을 이중으로 맞이하기 때문에 방문해야만 하는 이유가 더해졌다. 지엘로나 구라 도시의 오랜 와인 제조 전통을 체험할 수 있는 이상적인 기회라 볼 수 있다. 이 전통은 도시의 정체성을 특징짓는 중요한 부분이다.

지엘로나 구라에서 포도나무를 경작하는 것은 쉽지 않았지만 좋은 품질의 열매를 수확하는데 성공했고 이 덕분에 다른 유럽 와인들보다 돋보일 수 있었다. 19세기 런던과 파리에서 열린 세계 박람회에서 수상까지 했으니 품질에 대해서는 더 설명할 필요가 없다. 오늘날에도 전통은 계속되고 있으며 지엘로나 구라의 와인 양조법은 르네상스를 경험하는 것과 같다 할 수 있다. 지엘로나 구라가 위치한 루부스키에 주에는 수십 개의 포도밭이 있고 총 면적은 135ha로, 폴란드에서 가장 큰 규모를 자랑한다.

와인의 신을 만나다!

지엘로나 구라의 중심 행사이자 가장 중요한 와인 축제는 9월에 열리는 ‘비노브라니에 와인 축제’다. 올해는 9월 9일부터 17일까지 열리며 폴란드 최대의 와인 축제라 할 수 있다. 이 기간 동안에는 와인이 계곡처럼 흐르고, 도시는 파티, 이벤트, 콘서트로 가득 찬 거대한 무대가 펼쳐진다. 당연히 와인과 쾌락의 신이자 도시의 상징인 바커스도 등장해 특별한 시간을 만든다. 폴란드 전역에서 모인 와인 제조업자들이 자신들의 제품을 선보이는 와인 타운 또한 비노브라니에 와인 축제의 필수적인 부분이다.

근처 포도밭을 방문해보고 싶다면 비노브라니에 와인 축제와 함께 열리는 ‘와인 문화축제’에 참가해 보자. 여기서는 고급 와인 한 잔을 즐기면서 신의 음료가 어떻게 제조되는지에 대해 배우고, 또 와인을 만드는 사람들이 직접 들려주는 특별하고 놀라운 이야기를 들을 수 있다. 사실 우리가 현지 와인을 맛볼 수 있게 된 것은 하나하나의 포도나무를 돌보는 이들의 진심과 열정 덕이다. ‘와인 버스’라 불리는 도심에서 출발하는 특별 버스를 타면 편리하게 포도밭까지 이동할 수 있다. 매혹적인 장소에 위치한 여러 포도밭을 둘러보는 이노투어는 새로운 맛의 발견과 아름다운 시골을 즐기는 즐거움을 제공한다.

Why is it worth visiting Zielona Góra in 2023?

A double anniversary in the heart of Europe!

Zielona Góra is a city of 140,000 inhabitants located in the west of Poland, just two hours from one of Europe's largest airports, Berlin Brandenburg. This makes it fast and pleasant to reach, and it is well worth taking advantage of, as the city is celebrating the double jubilee of the 800th anniversary of the city's foundation and the 700th anniversary of the granting of city rights in 2022 and 2023. This is an ideal opportunity to visit and learn about the long-standing wine-making traditions that are an important part of Zielona Góra's identity.

Although Zielona Góra's vines were never easy to cultivate, they brought forth such good fruit that the local wines have always stood out among other European wines. Suffice it to say that in the 19th century, they won medals at world exhibitions in London and Paris! Today, traditions are still alive here and Zielona Góra's winemaking is experiencing something of a renaissance! In the Lubuskie Province, of which Zielona Góra is one of the two capitals, there are already several dozen vineyards, and their total area of 135 ha is the largest in Poland.

Getting to know the God of wine!

The central event in Zielona Góra and at the same time the most significant wine celebration in the city is the Winobranie Wine Festival in September. This is the biggest wine festival in Poland, which in 2023 will take place from 9 to 17 September. During it, wine pours in streams and the city becomes a huge stage full of parties, events, and concerts. Not surprisingly, after all, Bacchus - the god of wine and fun, and also the city's symbol - takes over the city for this special time. An integral part of the Winobranie Wine Festival is also the Wine Town, where winemakers from all over the region present their products.

And if you would like to visit one of the nearby vineyards, the ideal opportunity will be the Wine Culture Festival accompanying the Winobranie Wine Festival, during which you will be able to enjoy a glass of fine wine, learn about the process of creating the beverage of the gods and listen to unique, often surprising stories straight from the winemaker. In fact, it is exactly to their passion and heart put into caring for every single vine that we owe the opportunity to taste local wine. Getting there is conveniently arranged by special buses departing from the city center - the so-called Wine-Buses. With many of the vineyards located in enchanting spots, enotourism in our region offers a lot of pleasure in discovering new flavors and enjoying the beautiful countryside.
