On the Meierhof meadow, up to 9,000 concertgoers can experience the performances of the stars in an incomparable atmosphere. Clam Castle is not only a unique backdrop for legendary open-air concerts, the medieval fortress, which is one of the most beautiful castles in Austria, is also still the residence of a count's family.

Innsbruck Festival of Early Music

The Innsbruck Festival of Early Music has grown on the basis of a rich musical history of the Alpine city. In the Renaissance and Baroque periods, masters such as Paul Hofhaimer, Heinrich Isaac and Pietro Antonio Cesti stayed in Innsbruck as court musicians.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Tyrolean sovereigns maintained exquisitely staffed court orchestras with outstanding musicians from Europe. During the reign (1646–1662) of Archduke Ferdinand Charles, magnificent opera performances took place in the newly built, first free-standing theatre in the German-speaking world.

Bregenz Festival

Bregenz Festival

One year after the end of the Second World War, the first Bregenz Festival Week took place on two gravel barges - one for the stage set-ups of Mozart's early work Bastien et Bastienne, the other for the orchestra. In a city that didn't even have a theatre at the time, the idea of holding a festival seemed ludicrous, but the stopgap solution of choosing the most beautiful part of the city - Lake Constance - as the stage proved to be a resounding success.

From the very beginning, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra has formed the Festival Orchestra and has played a major role in the development and success of the festival to this day.

The Schubertiade - A festival for Franz Schubert

Giving him the place he deserves alongside Mozart and Beethoven was the idea and objective of the first Schubertiade, which was launched in 1976 by Hermann Prey in Hohenems. The city in Vorarlberg, Austria, quickly became one of the best-known festival venues and a popular meeting place for an international audience that seeks encounters with outstanding artists in a manageable setting and finds clear definitions instead of an arbitrarily interchangeable festival program: the uncompromising commitment to Franz Schubert.

And there are many Summer Festivals within Vienna, Linz, Graz, Salzburg, and other cities around Austria.
