[아츠앤컬쳐] 봄부터 가을까지 매주 주말, 바르샤바의 공원은 활기찬 야외 푸드 마켓 ‘Targ Śniadaniowy’ 즉, ‘아침시장’으로 활기가 넘친다.

2013년 4월에 처음 시작된 이 아침시장은 도시에 활력을 불어넣고 음식을 중심으로 자연스럽게 사람들이 모일 수 있는 여유로운 소풍 분위기를 조성해왔다. 즉, 단순히 음식을 먹기 위한 장소가 아니라, 주말의 특별한 의식 중 하나가 셈이다. 잔디밭에는 담요와 데크 체어가 깔리고, 산책길에는 수십 개의 음식 부스가 줄지어 서며, 배경에는 라이브 음악이 흐른다. 이 안에서는 가족, 친구, 연인들이 함께 모여 음식과 즐거움을 나누며 따뜻한 교류가 이어진다.

이곳의 각 부스는 열정적인 지역 생산업자나 식당 주인들이 직접 운영하며, 수제 빵과 치즈, 페이스트리부터 스페셜티 커피, 제철 간식, 콤부차, 그리고 내추럴 와인까지 다양한 먹거리를 판매한다. 뿐만 아니라 요가와 피트니스 수업, 창의적인 워크숍, 어린이 놀이터 등도 함께 열려 방문객의 경험을 더욱 풍성하게 만들어 준다.

아침시장의 가장 큰 특징은 바로 ‘테마 주간’인데, 이때는 특정 문화, 요리, 아이디어를 주제로 한 특별 이벤트가 열려 매번 새로운 재미를 선사한다.

2025년 9월 13일과 14일, 그동안 시장에서 열렸던 행사들 가운데 가장 인기를 끌었던 테마 중 하나인 ‘한국 주간’이 다시 돌아온다. 이번에도 전통 한식, 요리 시연, K-팝 댄스 공연, 전통차 시음, 창작 워크숍 등 다채로운 프로그램이 펼쳐질 예정이다. 바르샤바 시민들이 생동감 있게 한국 문화를 체험해 볼 수 있는 기회가 될 이번 행사는, 따뜻하고 여유로운 주말 시장 속에서 문화 간의 다리를 놓는 소중한 전통으로 이어지고 있다.

‘아침시장’은 바르샤바 현지인뿐 아니라 여행자와 폴란드에 처음 온 사람들까지, 모두가 맛과 음악, 창의성, 그리고 교류로 주말을 시작할 수 있도록 초대한다. 우리는 ‘음식을 나눈다는 것은 이야기를 나누는 것’이라 믿는다. 그리고 그 이야기들은 바르샤바의 공원에서 매 주말, 우리의 삶에서 살아 숨 쉬기 시작한다.

Breakfast Market - Under the Sky: Warsaw’s Weekend Ritual

Every weekend from spring through autumn, Warsaw’s green spaces come alive with Targ Śniadaniowy - literally the Breakfast Market - a vibrant open-air food market held every Saturday and Sunday.

Launched in April 2013, the Breakfast Market was created to revive urban life and bring people closer around food and community in a relaxed, picnic-like atmosphere. It’s not just a place to eat - it’s a weekend ritual. Grassy squares fill with blankets and deckchairs, dozens of stalls line the walkways, live music floats through the air, and families, friends gather to share food, fun, and connection.

Each stall is run by passionate local producers and restaurateurs offering everything from artisanal breads, cheeses, and pastries to specialty coffee, seasonal treats, kombucha, and natural wines. Meanwhile, fitness and yoga sessions, creative workshops, and children’s play zones offer lively extras that enrich the experience .

A signature feature of the market is its themed weekends - events celebrating specific cultures, cuisines, or ideas.

This year, we are delighted to announce the return of one of our most beloved themed events: the Korean Weekend, taking place on 13-14 September 2025. In collaboration with Korean cultural institutions, the market will once again feature traditional Korean cuisine, cooking demonstrations, K pop dance shows, tea tastings, and creative workshops- offering Warsaw’s public a vibrant and hands-on experience of Korean culture. It’s a cherished tradition that continues to build cultural bridges in the welcoming, relaxed setting of our weekend market.
