[아츠앤컬쳐] 트렌티노 알토 아디제 지역은 이탈리아 북부에 있으며 장엄한 산맥으로 인해 산악 애호가들이 즐겨 찾는 관광지로 유명하다. 특히나 레티안 알프스와 유네스코 문화유산인 돌로미티산맥은 보기만 해도 눈이 시원해지는 경이로운 광경을 선사하여 관광객들에게 꾸준한 사랑을 받고 있다.

겨울에는 빼놓을 수 없는 레저 스포츠인 스노보드와 스키를 즐길 수 있는 마돈나 디 캄필리오, 산 마르티노 디 카스트로차, 폴가리다가 등의 마을이 있다. 시원하게 레저스포츠를 즐긴 후에 레비코, 코마노 그리고 메라노의 라돈이 풍부한 온천수에서 몸을 뜨끈하게 녹이는 것이야말로 트렌티노 알토 아디제에서만 즐길 수 있는 요깃거리다.

그렇다고 해서 트렌티노 알토 아디제가 겨울에만 인기 있는 것이 아니다. 여름에도 시원하게 휴양을 할 수 있는 가르다 호수, 체이 호수가 있어 낚시, 카누, 윈드서핑을 하기에도 알맞은 환경과 최적의 기후를 갖추고 있다.

산과 숲, 고지대 경작지, 암석이 풍성한 지형적인 특성과 스위스, 오스트리아를 접하고 있는 위치적인 특성으로 인해서 트렌티노 알토 아디제에서는 다양한 문화와 전통이 혼재된 모습을 목격할 수 있다. 역사적으로도 고대 로마와 켈트족 사이, 중세에는 레토로망스어족과 게르만어를 겪고, 이후에는 이탈리아, 독일, 라딘족 문화가 중첩되는 등 계속해서 독특한 문화를 구축해 왔다.

그중에서 현대까지도 목각, 펠트, 보빈 레이스 및 직조와 같은 다양한 공예 기술의 전통이 이어져 내려오고 있으며, 하루에 한 짝만 만들 수 있을 정도로 각별한 인내를 요구하는 고대 기술을 이용한 삶은 양모 슬리퍼와 목제 방추를 사용하여 면사끈을 만드는 보빈 레이스 톰볼로가 유명하며, 발레 아우리나 지역이 특히 보빈 작업에 특화되어 있다.

요즘 같은 연말과 크리스마스 시즌에서 빠질 수 없는 묘미가 바로 크리스마스마켓이며 그것을 구경하기 위한 관광객들이 많다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 11월 중순부터 트렌토의 역사적인 중심지인 피에라 광장과 체사레 바티스티 광장에는 독특한 크리스마스 조명이 장식되고 전통적인 목조 구조물이 세워진다. 눈이 뒤덮인 산맥, 맑은 공기는 덤으로 크리스마스의 음식들을 즐길 수 있는데 그중 대표적인 먹거리는 바로 트렌티노 알토 아디제식 완자인 카네데를리, 견과류를 가득 얹은 전통 크리스마스 케이크 젤텐과 허니 스트루델이 있다.

최근에는 환경을 생각하는 그린 인증 프로젝트인 돌로미티 에너지 100%의 일환으로 크리스마스마켓을 여는 동안 청정에너지 사용, 빵으로 만든 접시 사용, 지속 가능한 이동성 고려, 친환경 인증 종이 등 환경적 지속 가능성에 특별한 관심을 기울이고 있다.

흔히 와인을 시음하는 것은 와인이 탄생한 토지를 가장 잘 알 수 있는 방법이라고 얘기한다. 트렌티노 알토 아디제 같은 경우에는 크게 계곡인 아디제와 평지, 구릉, 산의 경사면이 고루 있는 트렌토로 나뉘는데 추운 지역에서 생산된 포도로 만든 와인인 소비뇽과 피노 누아가 품질 수준이 매우 높은 편이다. 비록 많은 ‘국제적’ 품종이 트렌티노 알토 아디제에서 재배되지만 테롤데고, 스키아바 및 라그랭을 포함한 토종 포도도 많이 재배되고 있다.

마지막으로, 트렌티노 알토 아디제의 전통적인 요리를 보면 굉장히 풍성하고 본질적이다. 흔히 이탈리아 북쪽에서 먹는 폴렌타도 옥수수 대신 이 지역에서는 감자를 주재료로 사용한다. 한국의 감자전과 매우 비슷한 토르텔 데 파타테라는 감자 팬케이크도 대표적인 전통 요리 중 하나이며 감자를 주재료로 한 요리가 많다. 또한 독일의 영향을 많이 받은 크라우트처럼 훈제된 돼지고기와 소시지를 활용한 음식들이 많다.

Trentino Alto Adige

The Trentino Alto Adige region is located in northern Italy and it is famous for its majestic mountain ranges, making it a popular tourist destination for mountain enthusiasts. In particular, the Rhaetian Alps and the UNESCO cultural heritage site, the Dolomites Mountains, are constantly being loved by tourists as they offer amazing landscapes that refresh the sight.

In winter, there are villages such as Madonna di Campiglio, San Martino di Castrozza, and Polgarida, where you can enjoy snowboarding and skiing, which are essential leisure sports. After enjoying refreshingly leisure sports, warming up in the radon-rich hot springs of Levico, Comano and Merano is something you can only enjoy at Trentino Alto Adige.

Trentino Alto Adige isn't just popular in winter. There are Lake Garda and Lake Cei, where you can have a cool vacation even in summer, so it has the adequate environment and the best climate for fishing, canoeing and windsurfing.

Due to the geographical characteristics of mountains, forests, highland arable land and rocks, as well as the location where it faces Switzerland and Austria, you can witness a mixture of various cultures and traditions in Trentino Alto Adige.

Historically, it has continued to build a unique culture, such as between ancient Rome and the Celts, the Retro-Romantic language and Germanic language in the Middle Ages, and the overlapping Italian, German, and Ladin cultures afterwards.

Among them, traditions of various craft techniques, such as wood carving, felting, bobbin lace and weaving, have been passed down to the present day. Boiled wool slippers using an ancient technique that requires a lot of patience to make only one pair per day, and bobbin lace tombolo, which uses wooden spindles to make cotton yarn, are very famous and the Valle Aurina area is particularly specialized in bobbin work.

It is not an exaggeration to say that the Christmas market is an indispensable part of the year-end and Christmas seasons like these days, and there are many tourists who travel this region to visit it. From mid-November, the historic centers of Trento City, Piazza Fiera and Piazza Cesare Battisti, are decorated with unique Christmas lights and traditional wooden structures are erected. You can enjoy Christmas foods within the snow-covered mountains view and the fresh air.

Among them, the representative foods are the Trentino Alto Adige dumpling ball Canederli, the traditional Christmas cakes topped with nuts, Zelten, and the Honey Strudel. Recently, during the opening of the Christmas market, special attention has been paid to environmental sustainability as part of Dolomity Energy 100%, an environmentally friendly green certification project, such as the use of clean energy, the use of bread plates, the consideration of sustainable mobility, and eco-certified paper.

It is often said that tasting wine is the best way to learn about the land it was born in. In the case of Trentino Alto Adige, it is largely divided into the valley Adige and the plain, hilly and mountain slopes of Trento and the quality level of regional wines is very high for Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, wines produced from grapes that prefer cold regions. Although many "international" varieties are grown in Trentino Alto Adige, the region is also home to many native grapes, including Teroldego, Schiava and Lagrein.

Finally, if you look at the traditional cuisine of Trentino Alto Adige, you can get the impression that it is very rich and fondamental. Polenta, which is often eaten in northern Italy, in this region uses potatoes as its main ingredient instead of corn as usual. We can observe that there are many potato-based dishes through also potato pancakes called tortel de patate (Torta di patate), which are very similar to Korean potato pancakes, are also one of the representative traditional dishes. There are also many dishes that use smoked pork and sausage, such as German influenced dishes such as kraut.
