메데진의 무역 호황으로 인해 이곳은 비즈니스와 컨벤션 행사를 위한 매력적인 지역으로 탈바꿈하였다. 아름다운 자연이 메데진이 오랜 기간 간직해온 전통이었다면 현대의 메데진은 이와 더불어 지적이고 정돈된 국제 비지니스 도시로의 면모까지 얻게 된 것이다.

지하철 및 케이블카와 같은 현대식 대중교통 시스템이 발달하여 미주 기구와 미주 개발 은행 총회 등 세계적인 행사의 개최지가 되기도 했으며, 특히 플라사 마요르, 팔라시오 데 엑스포시시오네스, 인터콘티넨탈 호텔에 있는 컨벤션 센터는 2009년 개최된 미주개발은행 회의와 같은 세계적 규모의 행사를 개최하기에 적격인 장소를 제공한다.

메데진은 예술의 혼을 불어넣기에 적합한 도시이기도 하다. 메데진 도시 북쪽의 안티오키아 박물관에서 콜롬비아 예술의 거장 페르난도 보테로의 작품을, 에스쿨투라스 광장에서 페르난도 보테로가 조각한 거대한 청동 조형물을 감상할 수 있다. 또한 코무나 13거리에서 그래피티 투어를 하고, 거리에서 즉흥적인 랩 공연을 관람할 수도 있으며, 밤에는 네온컬러 빛이 쏟아지는 메데진의 클럽에서 2)레게톤을 즐길 수도 있다.

Medellín, capital of Antioquia department, has a pleasant climate of around 24°C; offers modern transport systems like Metro and Metro Cable an efficient infrastructure which has allowed it to host world-class events such as OAS and IDB meetings. Located in a valley surrounded by mountains, this city is always friendly to visitors.

From the mountains that surround the capital of Antioquia you can see how the Medellín River runs parallel to the Metro, which connects various parts of the city. There is an abundance of parks, libraries, museums and public spaces where many Cultural events take place. Flowers have their own fair and in the surrounding villages life is simple with relaxing landscapes and nature reserves.

When you visit Medellín, you'll discover why Antioquia's capital is a model of innovation: modern buildings and advanced solutions for all areas of life can be found all throughout the city. But, as you travel through the city, you'll find that, despite the city's modernity, it hasn't forgotten its origins and roots. In fact, the "paisas" (a nickname of this area's inhabitants) treasure the legacy of their ancestors. This ten-day celebration, which started in 1957, pays tribute to the beautiful flowers that are grown in the area. At the Desfile de Silleteros, the Fair's main event, you'll see hundreds of locals carrying creative, colorful flower arrangements on their backs.

The Medellín Flower Fair also has a number of other charming activities, including culinary demonstrations, concerts given by renowned local and international musicians, and a parade of classic antique cars. These many entertaining events fill the city's streets with color and peculiar contrasts.

The National Trova Festival is also celebrated during the Flower Fair. Trova is a type of music typical of Antioquia. It's unique in that employs elements of improvisation and humor, which make this festival an excellent opportunity for you to have fun while also learning about one of the most important traditions of the Paisa people.

And, if you want to use the Fair to learn more about how to grow flowers or their importance in the area, you have two great options: you can visit the stunning Joaquín Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden, which has exhibitions of many different types of flowers, including orchids which, as Colombia's national flower, are symbolic throughout the country.

As a second great option, many tourists choose to visit farms found in the outskirts of the city to learn firsthand about the flowers that generations of Antioquian locals have protected and cultivated.
