[아츠앤컬쳐] 장엄한 로스 네바도스 자연공원은 콜롬비아 중앙산맥의 고봉들로 이루어져 있다. 눈과 모래, 동물, 초목의 독특한 조합이 끊임없이 대조를 이루고, 차갑고 매서운 바람이 이 지역에 살았던 퀸바야 부족 예술가와 금세공인의 비밀을 속삭여 주는 듯하다.
공원의 눈은 콜롬비아에 물을 공급하며 국민들의 정신을 기르고 경제를 이끄는 큰 강의 원천이다. 물은 산봉우리와 높은 고원으로부터 서쪽의 커피재배지역과 동쪽의 톨리마주와 막달레나평야로 흐른다. 이 아름답고 풍부한 수원은 쌀, 옥수수, 수수, 목화와 같은 농작물뿐만 아니라 콜롬비아 커피의 50% 이상의 생산을 돕는다. 또한 예전에 빙하가 있었던 분화구에는 많은 호수가 생겨났는데, 그중 가장 멋진 곳은 오툰, 라 레오나, 베르데호수 등이다.
네바도 델 루이즈 화산-쿠만데이라고도 하는 이 화산은 해발 5,321m의 최고봉으로 약 100㎢에 이른다. 차량으로 접근할 수 있는 유일한 봉우리로, 공원의 고봉 중 가장 잘 알려져 있다. 설원의 가장 높은 곳까지 올라가면 라 올레타와 알토 데 라 피라냐 분화구를 탐험할 수 있다. 고온의 유황 온천은 이곳의 또 다른 매력이라 할 수 있다.
베르데 호수: 빙하 거울-루이즈와 산타 이사벨 봉우리 사이의 베르데 호수는 아름다운 에메랄드색으로 국내외 관광객들을 끌어 모으는데, 유명한 국제 출판물의 표지에도 등장한바 있다.
오툰 호-화산 폭발과 빙하 운동으로 형성된 이 호수는 주로 네바도 데 산타 이사벨의 얼음이 녹아서 만들어진 것이다. 해발 약 3,900m에 위치한 이 호수의 장엄한 아름다움으로 큄바야 문화의 숭배지가 되었다. 호수는 낚시에 적합한 송어와 다른 어종들로 가득 차 있고, 물은 화산활동으로 형성된 동굴 바닥을 통해 여과되고 페레이라 시의 상수원인 오툰 강으로 흘러간다.
무덤의 계곡 또는 고독의 사막-전설에 따르면, 이 신비로운 장소는 푸야와 큄바야의 순례지였다. 방문객이나 가이드에게는 마치 달의 표면처럼 보인다. 많은 사람들이 그곳이 에너지가 집중되어 있다고 주장하고 있으며, UFO 목격담도 나온다. 방문객들은 에너지를 얻기 위해 수백 개의 암석 원에 그들의 기도와 소원을 보낸다. 공원은 등산, 빙벽과 암벽 등반, 낚시, 조류 관찰, 하이킹 등 스포츠를 원하는 이들에게 훌륭한 장소다. 눈을 감상하고, 스포츠 또는 익스트림 스포츠를 원하는 방문객들을 위한 옵션도 있다.
공원 내 방문객 서비스는 특히 북부 지역, 브리사스, 샬레 아레날레스, 레푸지오 델 루이즈에 집중되어 있다. 로스 네바다도스 공원의 진입로는 방문객들에게 아름답고 숨막히는 경관을 제공한다. 가장 추천하는 노선은 마니잘레스 시에서 출발하는 코스로 비행기로 30분밖에 걸리지 않는다. 마니잘레스-무리요-레푸지오 브리스사스 도로는 여행객들을 설원 안쪽 가장자리로 안내하는 10km 코스로, 오툰 호수까지 4시간이면 가능하다.
Mystery and splendor in Los Nevados Natural Park
The highest peaks in Colombia's Central Mountain Range are located in this majestic place. The cold and turbulent winds whisper the secrets of artists and goldsmiths of the Quimbaya Tribe, which previously inhabited the region.
The park's unique combination of snow, sand, fauna and vegetation form a landscape of unending contrasts. The park's snow is the source of large rivers that provide water to Colombia, nurture the spirit of its people and drive the economy. Water from the peaks and high plateau feed the drainage basin of the coffee-growing region to the west and the Department of Tolima and Magdalena Plain to the east. This beautiful and prolific water source fuels more than 50% of Colombia's national coffee production, as well as production of crops such as rice, corn, sorghum, and cotton. There are also many lakes that have formed in the craters where glaciers previously existed. Some of the most spectacular are Otún, La Leona, and Verde Lakes.
Ascent to the Top of Nevado del Ruiz Volcano- Also called Cumanday(Smoking Nose), this volcano peaks at 5,321m above sea level and covers approximately 100 ㎢. It is the most well known of the park's highest peaks and the only one accessible by vehicle. Visitors can make the ascent to highest point of its snowfields and explore its spectacular craters, La Olleta and Alto de la Piraña. Its hot springs with their high-temperature sulfur waters are another natural attraction.
Verde Lake: a glacial mirror- Lake Verde lies between the Ruiz and Santa Isabel peaks. The beauty of its emerald-green water attracts national and international tourists and has appeared on the cover of famous international publications.
Otún Lake- Formed by volcanic eruptions and glacial movement, it is mainly fed by melting ice from Nevado de Santa Isabel. Due to the majestic beauty of this lake located at approximately 3,900 meters above sea level, it was a center of worship for the Quimbaya culture. Its waters are teeming with trout and other fish species that are apt for sports fishing. The water is filtered through the floors of caves formed by volcanic flows and feed the Otún River, the water source for the city of Pereira.
Valley of Tombs or Desert of Solitude- According to legend, this mystical place was a pilgrimage destination for the Puya and Quimbaya. To visitors and guides, it looks like the surface of the moon. Many people claim that it is an area of concentrated energy, and UFO sightings have been reported here. Visitors to the Soledad Desert direct their prayers and requests to a circle of hundreds of rocks with the hope of replenishing their energy.
The park is an excellent destination for people who are looking for sports such as mountain climbing, ice and rock climbing, sports fishing, bird watching and hiking nature trails. There are also options for visitors who want to see the snow, play sports, or participate in extreme sports.
Visitor service in the park is particularly concentrated in the Northern sector, at the Brisas, Chalet Arenales, and Refugio del Ruiz sites. Los Nevados Park is accessible from all departments in which it is located. Access roads provide visitors the opportunity for some beautiful and breathtaking scenery. Some of the most recommended routes start in the city of Manizales, just 30 minutes by air from the country's capital. The Manizales–Murillo-Refugio Brisas road is a one hour(10km) route that leads travelers to the inner edge of the snowfields. Taking the Manizales–Murillo-Refugio Brisas route, Otún Lake is only a four-hour trip.
