알프스 산맥이 빈에서 시작하는 걸 아는가? 그 출발점은 다뉴브강 서편에 그리 높지 않은 레오폴츠버그산(425m)인데, 꼭대기에는 1683년 9월 12일 터키의 카라 무스타파 제2차 점령에 맞서 빈 전투에서 승리한 폴란드 얀 3세 소비에스키와 휘하의 군대를 기념하는 교회가 있다.
이곳의 이브닝랜드 포도원은 무슬림 방식이 아닌 빈 전통을 잇는다는 데에 가장 중점을 둔다. 현재 칼렌버그와 레오폴츠버그의 경사지는 빈 최고의 포도원 중 하나로 최고급 테스트를 거친 화이트와인이 나온다. 이곳의 특산물은 쿠베의 일종인 ‘게미슈터 잣츠’이나, 다른 품종들도 함께 생산한다. 베토벤, 슈베르트, 말러 등 많은 역사 속 인물들이 사랑했던 멋진 와인이다.
서쪽으로 가면 2천 년 전 로마인들이 발견한 가벼운 화산 활동 지역으로 유황수 스파가 있고 남부 지방처럼 풀바디 레드와인이 생산된다. 여기부터 후방의 산들은 호에 반드에서 시작하여 랙스를 따라 여름에도 눈이 덮인 슈니베르크산(2,048m)까지 이어진다. 빈에서 가장 가까운 스키장(60km)이 있는 젬머링을 지나 더 높은 곳을 향해 북쪽으로 가다 보면 매우 목가적인 계곡이 눈앞에 펼쳐진다.
이 야생 지역과 잘츠부르크 사이의 오스트리아 북부에 이른바 알프스에서 가장 아름다운 곳 중 하나인 잘츠캄머구트가 있는데, 이름은 중세에 ‘금’과 같아서 이 지역을 부강하게 만든 소금 광산으로부터 유래한 것이다. 이 지역은 알프스와 멋진 마을 풍경에 어우러진 아름다운 호수가 압권이다. 원래 알프스의 시골 풍경은 오스트리아, 스위스, 독일이 별반 다르지 않다.
잘츠부르크에서 오스트리아 알프스산맥의 정상인 남쪽을 향하면 최고봉 그로스글로크너(3,798m)가 있다. 그곳에 가려면 먼저 여름 스키가 가능한 가장 높은 스키리조트 ‘젤 암 시’가 있는 빙하 덮인 산 키츠슈타인혼(3,203m)을 지난다. 그로스글로크너 정상 가까이에는 1935년에 오스트리아의 남부 지역을 가기 위해 닦아놓은 최고 고도 2,504m의 도로가 있다. 총 48km의 길이로 여름철에 이 도로를 통해 잘츠부르크로부터 오스트리아의 최남단 카린시아까지 여행할 수 있다.
산속 오두막 중 한 곳에서 하룻밤을 묵는 것을 추천하는데, 그것은 아마도 단순하지만 아주 놀라운 경험이 될 것이다. 카린시아에서는 멋진 마을 하일리겐블루트를 지나게 된다. 카린시아는 오스트리아에서 가장 온난한 곳 중 하나로 휴식하기 좋은 크고 따뜻한 호수가 많은데, 이탈리아에 위치한 흥미로운 산들이 자리한 곳으로 가는 국경에 걸친 지역이다.
서쪽으로 좀 더 가면, 티롤과 보랄베르그로 향하는 산들에 멋진 하이킹코스와 스키리조트가 많다. 그 중 일부는 겨울철에만 사람이 올라와 문을 연다. 아쉽게도 그 지역이 조금 비싸긴 하지만 그만큼 최고의 잊지 못할 순간이 될 것이다.
대부분의 호텔에 스파, 사우나, 레스토랑이 있고 숙식을 제공하므로 휴식을 취하기 좋다. 이 매혹적인 휴양지에 가려면 인스브루크에서 취리히까지 정기열차나 오스트리아 철도(OBB), 또는 도로 접근성을 고려하여 자동차 특별 서비스 ‘Car on the Train’을 이용할 수 있다.
스키어들은 1,304~2,811m 고도 사이에 550km까지 연결된 리프트를 탈 수 있다! 광활한 전 지역이 리프트로 연결되어 있고, 사이사이 가벼운 식사와 술이 있는 멋진 오두막들이 있다. 여기서는 같은 슬로프를 두 번 타지 않고도 휴가 내내 스키를 즐길 수 있다.
A journey true the Austrian Alps
you know that the Alps are starting in Vienna? With the “Leoboldsberg” on the Westside of the Danube river(Donau) the Alps are starting. A mountain not to high only 425m high, with a chapel on the top as remember our Polish friends under Jan III Sobieski who supported us on 12. September 1683 successfully during the 2nd Turkish occupation of Vienna which were led by Kara Mustafa.
A siege most important for the “Evening Land” to continue with our tradition not follow the Muslimas way. Now on the slope of “Kahlenberg” and “Leopoldsberg” are one of the best Vineyards in Vienna with wonderful round tested fruity white wine. Here the local specialty is the “Gemischter Satz” a kind of Cuvee but harvested all different sorts at once. A wonderful wine which many important people in History loved, like Beethoven, Schubert, Mahler, and many, many other.
Further to the West we are coming to the Red wine area, a light volcanic activity area discovered by the Romans 2000 years ago. With SPA and sulfur water, which allows to grow full bodied red wine like in the south. From now on the “rear” mountains are starting over the “Hohe Wand” via the “Rax” to the “Schneeberg”(2048m), a mountain which is covered in snow even in summer. Passing by the settle of “Semmering” with its closest ski area to Vienna(60km) we continue the journey to the higher parts of the Alps.
Following the mountains to the north many wild valleys must be passed which is very idyllic. Between these wild areas and the city of “Salzburg”, in the northern part of Austria, is one of the most beautiful part in the Austrian Alps the area of “Salzkammergut” the name is coming from salt mining which was the Austrian “Gold” of the middle age and which makes the region wealthy and healthy. This region is dominated by beautiful maintain lakes, combined with the scenery of the Alps and gorgeous villages. In principle the countryside in the alps are not to much different with in the countries Austria, Swiss and Germany.
From “Salzburg“ we are moving to the south to the highest tops of the Austrian Alps. The “Grossglockner” with a Height of 3,798m the highest mountain in Austria, but before you reach the “Grossglockner” you are passing the city of “Zell am See” with the highest ski resort in Austria for giving you the availability to ski in summertime the “Kitzsteinhorn” (3,203m) a glacier covered mountain.
Closed to the top of the “Grossglockner” with a maximum altitude of 2,504m 1935 a road was constructed to connect the southern part of Austria. With a length of 48 km you can travel in Summertime from Salzburg Country to Carinthia the most southern area of Austria.
It is recommended to stay over night in one of the Alp Hut which is an awesome, simple. basic experience. Further down already in Carinthia you pass by a gorgeous village named “Heiligenblut”. Carinthia (Kärnten) has a lot of large warm Lakes wonderful to take a rest, it one of the warmest areas in Austria and on the boarder to Italia where the other interesting mountains are located.
When we go more to the West, towards Tyrol and Vorarlberg similar mountain structure can be found with wonderful hiking and ski resorts. Some of them only open during the wintertime. In this area this is Height live in winter. An unforgettable experience awaiting you, unfortunately a little costly but with high standard. Most of the Hotels have SPA, Sauna, Restaurant with full board which is recommended to relax.
To reach this lovely resort you can use the scheduled train from Innsbruck to Zürich or “Car on the Train”(Autoreisezug) a special, continent service by the Austrian rail (OBB) or car, but in this case availably of road closer must be taken into account. For Skiers you will find in an altitude of 1304 m – 2811 m 550km!!!!! of excellent prepared slopes all connected by lifts and in the middle nice Huts with refreshments and stronger drinks. You can ski you whole holiday without using the same slope twice.
