[아츠앤컬쳐] 바르샤바 박물관은 ‘바르샤바’라는 특별한 도시와 시민들의 추억을 간직하고 있는 독특한 문화 기관이다. 11개의 주택이 연립하여 있는 구시가지 광장 내에 있으며 도시 중심부에 위치해 있다. 21 개의 테마로 이루어진 전시실에서는 바르샤바의 상징인 인어, 엽서, 설계도 및 지도, 의복, 사진, 바르샤바 회사의 패키징 및 도시의 보물 등을 감상 할 수 있다.
바르샤바 박물관은 바르샤바의 물품들을 수집하고 분석하여 대중들에게 공개하고 있다. 특정 물건에 얽힌 이야기를 풀어낸 주요 전시실에서는 현대 바르샤바의 형태와 성격에 영향을 준 역사적 사건과 인물들을 만나볼 수 있다.
박물관 컬렉션 물품은 30만 개가 넘으며 그 중 정확히 7,352개가 주요 전시실에 전시되어 있다. 이들은 모두 진품이며, 일상적인 용도에 쓰이는 물건들이나 특정 사건에 쓰인 물건들, 예술품과 유틸리티 아이템, 인물이나 기념일에 관련된 기념품 등이 있다. 컬렉션의 상당 부분은 전쟁 후 바르샤바 시민들이 기부한 개인 물품이 차지한다. 이런 식으로 그들은 도시 역사를 보존하는 데 기꺼이 참여하고 있다.
또한 최근 바르샤바 박물관은 예술 작품에서 일상적인 물품에 이르기까지 5,000개 이상의 전시품을 선보이는 온라인 컬렉션을 시작했다. 바르샤바 박물관 주변의 건물들 또한 눈여겨봐야 한다. 구 시가지에 있는 건물들은 외부와 내부 곳곳에 수많은 아름다운 장식물과 건축 디테일이 숨겨져 있으며, 주요 전시실 한 켠에 그 역사에 관한 전시가 마련되어 있다.
바르샤바 박물관은 바르샤바를 잘 알고 이해하고자 하는 모든 사람들을 위해 교육 프로그램을 개설하고 워크숍이나 미팅 및 기획 전시회를 주최하고 있다. 또한 바르샤바의 역사를 연구하고 훌륭한 바르샤바 문학 서적을 출판하고 있다. 본관에는 독립영화를 상영하는 ‘인어(Syrena)’ 영화관도 있다.
구 시가지 광장의 주요 전시회뿐만 아니라 바르샤바 곳곳의 9개의 박물관-바르샤바 볼라 박물관, 바르샤바 프라하 박물관, 헤리티지 해석 센터, 약국 박물관, 팔미리 박물관, 코르차키아눔, 인쇄 박물관, 군종교구 박물관, 망루(바비칸)-에서도 도시의 이야기를 들어볼 수 있다. 이 박물관들은 독립적으로 프로그램을 만들고 지역 사회와 교류하고 있으며 또한, 상설 전시회 외에 워크샵, 회의, 강의, 투어, 가족 체험 프로그램, 콘서트 등 다양한 이벤트를 주최하고 있다.
Museum of Warsaw
The Museum of Warsaw is a unique cultural institution that cares for the memory of this extraordinary city and its inhabitants. It is located in the very heart of the city, in 11 connected tenement houses on the Old Town Square. There, in 21 themed rooms visitors can admire sirens, postcards, plans and maps, clothes, photographs, packaging of Warsaw companies and other treasures of the city.
The Museum of Warsaw collects the things of Warsaw, researches them and makes them available to the public. The core exhibition by the stories of particular objects presents historical events and people who had made an impact on the shape and the character of contemporary Warsaw.
The Museum collection comprises over 300 000 items and exactly 7352 of them had been put on the display in the core exhibition. These are all original objects: daily use and special occasion items, artworks and utility items, keepsakes of people and events. A significant part of the collection consists of gifts – personal items donated by the inhabitants of the capital after the war. In this way, they wanted to participate in preserving the continuity of the city's history.
Recently, the Museum of Warsaw has also launched an online collection which presents more than 5,000 works from art pieces to everyday objects. The very buildings, which house the Museum of Warsaw, are worth seeing. Old Town houses hide many beautiful ornaments and architectural details – outside and inside. Part of the main exhibition is devoted to their history.
The Museum of Warsaw carries out educational programs and organizes workshops, meetings and temporary exhibitions for everyone who wants to get to know and understand Warsaw. The Museum publishes books about Warsaw and historical studies as well as fine literature. There is also the “Syrena” Cinema with an independent film repertoire in the headquarters.
Tourists can get acquainted with the stories of Warsaw not only in the core exhibition at Old Town Market Square, but also at each of nine locations of the Museum of Warsaw: The Wola Museum of Warsaw, The Praga Museum of Warsaw, The Heritage Interpretation Centre, The Museum of Pharmacy, Palmiry Museum – Memorial Site, Korczakianum, The Museum of Printing, The Museum of Field Ordinance, Barbican. This locations create their programmes independently and engage local communities. They offer not merely permanent exhibitions, but also a whole gamut of various events: workshops, meetings, lectures, tours, family activities, concerts and more.
