Caño Cristales has been called the most beautiful river in the world. This natural wonder is also known as the river of five colours. For a few special months between the wet and dry seasons, the water is illuminated with shades of yellow, blue, green, red, and black because of the aquatic plants, specifically the Macarenia Clavigera, that grow in the riverbed and when in contact with the sun rays paints the river with beautiful colors.

How to get to Caño Cristales?

To visit this natural wonder, you must first arrive at the municipality of La Macarena, located in the department of Meta, and get on a canoe that will take you along the Guayabero River to the Sierra de La Macarena National Natural Park, where Caño Cristales is located.

It is recommended to visit Caño Cristales during the second semester of the year when the riverbed grows and the aquatic plants are in their maximum splendor.
